I use my phone (Razor V3 Black) to connect to the internet and I'm trying to use live update to download the newest MPT update it's about 79mb but every time I get between 75 and 80% done with the download my phone disconnects from the internet.
Does motorola have an update web site or some way to use a download manager (getright, flashget, ect) to get the updates so I don't have to keep starting over?

You'll most likely have better luck doing this from a connection that doesn't require the use of your phone as the modem (that phone isn't 3G, so I dread to think how long that is taking). RUN, don't walk, to somewhere with a broand connection, even if it's a Starbucks or McDonald's or some other place with a free wifi connection and try the download that way.
Good luck, Geri O

I live in Hicksville USA, there is no Starbucks and 90% of the people don't even know what a wifi is.
That and even if they did I have a desktop not a laptop.
I have three choices for internet.
1. Dial up which isn't really an option.
2. My cell phone which is somewhat fast (I get up to 15-20kbps usually) but disconnects regularly (about once every hour).
3. Cable internet not really an option as it'll cost me over $1,000 to have the new wires run from the nearest poll.

Ouch. We have that problem at our shop. Especially maddening is that just down the road 2 miles, they get DSL all day. But we're in the no-zone.
Something in the chain is probably timing out. You might try a download manager of some sort that will allow you to pick up the download where it left off when it drops. And I don't know if you'll be able to download one to the phone. I think there's some websites that may offer some help.
Hmm, this is certainly a conundrum. Hopefully someone else here can offer more help than I have.
Good luck, Geri O

Well, after about 10 tires the bleepn' thing finally downloaded.
I heard that my provider (Unicel) is getting bought out by Verizon, so hopefully we'll get a better network up here in the "boonies"
It's funny, I have dish network and they offer internet service but I live in the only place on the planet where it doesn't work.

Interesting note. I downloaded the MPT v5 program from Moto's website. I spoke to a tech who made it available for me. I recently did an upgrade to a RAZR2 V8. Well, after several atempts it just won't work. I even reinstalled my original MPT and still it won't work. However, the drivers enabled my Windows xP laptop to handshake with the cell phone, enough so I can drag and drop files to the cell. Is there a "good" or better program like MPT to use for the RAZR2 V8?

Mobiledit and CellSync. I've not used Mobiledit, but I used CellSync when I was using a Razr2 V9 and it worked fine. Pretty much the same features as MPT.
Mobile Phone Tools worked fine for me for a long time, but it would NOT install on my new, well, almost a year old now, Gateway notebook. CellSync saved the day.
