so i use my Samsung SCH-i700 to get on the wifi at my college campus to get on the internet and this month idk what the hell happened i was connected to the pay per kb but i thought i was on wifi. According to my account overview on the verizon site i owe like $200 in fees. Do you know if i could just get the unlimited data plan for this month and then take it off next month and avoid paying ~200ish? Thanks in advance!

You might be able to do that, I had a ton of text messaging and just added a plan, but I'm not going to be removing the plan after the end of the bill cycle. Best of luck to you.

Um. why dont you just GET an unlimited data plan.? It saves a shit load of money in the long run. Im only 16 and I used to go over by like 400 a month ((mostly in txt messaging, even though I was on a 1500 plan)) so it saves my family like 350 dollars a month.

But Id advise you not to try and screw around with Verizon, cause they are bitches and will always find a way to turn it against you.

Verizon likes to steal from their costomers by changing the numbers on the bill, so id just be aware if I were you. **Like when I had my 1500 txt plan, they would knock the numbers down to like 1365 instead of 1500, so i would go over by more money.**

Unless you have a set unlimited plan, they will find a way to screw you over.

It sounds to me when you had your text allowance "knocked down" to 1365 that it was probably not a full month of the text plan. Perchance are we unfamiliar with pro-ration?

When it comes to anything data verizon are crooks. even thier unlimited plans aren't truely unlimited. like thier data plan, capped at 5gigs a month. i can eat through 5 gigs in less than a week.

there are certain restrictions to capping and that is why verizon has the best and the fastest coverage. if you notice there is no streaming or radio station on our network. this allows for the whole network to work seemlessly and be able to work properly.

To highlight on what VzDuBKid is saying.

Companies who provide data services cap the usage for bandwidth reasons. The more bandwidth you use, the slower everyones speeds are. I know in my area the cable internet services providers are even begining to put caps on the usage of thier customers!

I would price out the unlimited plan very, very carefully before going for it. I had two Verizon phones on a shared plan and would regularly go over the texting limit. I allowed a csr to talk me into an unlimited plan (after much talking back and forth). Blah. The unlimited plan cost more in the long run than the running over the text message limits.

I thought I would save $10 a month but actually paid an additional $20 a month for what in my mind was basically the same set of features. I called and got the additional cost refunded after a long conversation with a different csr. I am still impressed that I was given the refund.

I have downgraded the plan since then and am waiting on the contract to expire on my remaining line. For a bit there it seemed like Verizon's customer service was coming in line. Too bad there are so many other issues with the actual phone service.
