if for intstance, chicago gets the 3g network for tmobile and it doesnt operate very well in the south suburbs, can the g1 be switched to 2g or is it ran by another radio signal such as edge? How would it work or would u just have a dead phone?

the G1 will be able to work on edge if you move out of a 3g area.

its live in nyc, austin, dallas, philly and 3 other markets I can't think of right now. in a month 25 markets will be active. I've read about people getting up to 600k down and 300k up teathering their phone.
