No message reminder on Samsung A517 - Suggest new phone?

I recently picked up a new phone - the a517. I set all my settings to exactly what I wanted, and was happy with my phone.
Only the hard way did I find out that the a517 doesn't remind you if you've missed a call or text message. Every phone I've ever had would beep every few minutes to let me know I missed a call or text.
Not so with the a517. The only way you know you've missed a call is if you check the phone, which is a fatal design flaw.
I'm seriously considering returning the phone for this very reason. Can anyone suggest a Samsung phone around the same price range as the 517 that DOES have a missed call/text alert?

Wow that's weird. You sure it's alert tone is not set to "off". check page 25 or 82 of your user guide.
Anyway, How much you looking at spending? How about the Samsung A737 or SLM? SOny erricson W580i is nice too but I have a friend that's having trouble with the sync software for this phone.
