Get DKU-5 cable and copy of MobiMB. Wallpaper is jpeg format, ring tones are SP-MIDI format. The Nokia Software Suite is Free but Verizon disabled uploads using it
MobiMB is $25+ but works over the DKU-5 cable

My Reply:
Thank you for your reply and the diatribe on the party line, however, I
still wish to have this enabled for my phone. As the owner of the phone I
feel my rights are being violated by having a feature that was installed by
the manufacturer for my use being disabled. I work in the IT industry and
understand Verizon's concerns regarding malicious software(i.e. virus
software) and digital piracy, but, I also like to express my creative side
and would like to create/publish my own images, tones, and possibly games for my phone and that is a right that you have taken away from me.

Verizon is in some hot water over this since the 3589i model is exclusive to them. In addition, the owners manual for the 3589i allows for ringtone upload via the DKU-5 Cable so it becomes a false claim on their part to disable this feature.
In any event, you can download the PC Suite from Nokia for the 3586i phone which supports all 358X series including ringtone uploads. The only trick is to make sure you set up your phone to appears as a 3586i and it will work.
One other option is MobiMB Mobile Manager...it too will give you full control of your phone.

How could Nokia allow their own PC Suite to get disabled???
And even if it is, doesnt Verizon tell the buyers before hand??

Any Updates on adding midi ringtones to Nokia 3589i ??
I found this post: http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic6450.html about being able to get the ringtones onto the phone, but i've had no luck with actually being able to use those custom rings as my ringer....any updates, suggestions, etc.?? Several people have mentioned the MobileMB software. Just to clarify...will this software let me use my custom midi files as ringtones??
ALSO:: when my phone is on it's main screen it always says "Verizon" along the top of the display. Is there a way to change the displayed text?
below is my posts on the other threads...........
I'm one of the stupid ones who uses Verizon....just got this Nokia 3589i a couple months ago and just bought the DKU-5 USB cable so i could customize contacts, images, ringtones, etc....ALAS....i have trouble using midi rings and find these posts.....
Anyone have any new updates on how to hack this Verizon curse, how to update the phones firmware, etc etc??
thanks & stay well.

MobiMB works!
Well...I know I'm answering my own question here...but last night after all my reading & posts I tried LogoManager's MobiMB and successfully transferred my own custom images and midi files and was then able to successfully use them as Wallpapers and Ringtones on my Nokia 3589i from Verizon. You can get MobiMB from here:
http://www.logomanager.co.uk/php/products.php?id=51
Two things I'd like to do but haven't been able to yet, so if anyone has info please let me know.... #1) MobiMB has a feature to allow you to set a particular graphic as your "startup logo" but i've yet to get that feature to work correctly (here again, could be because of the Verizon factor). #2) While on the main screen of my display (for example the default screen if I press the red "end call" button) - the onscreen text display reads "Verizon" - on my old phone I could change this, but can't figure out how to with this Nokia 3589i. Anyone know how?? THANKS!

hehe new to this forum.
i had the same problem as u, but i called customer service because my phone wasnt getting text messages or sending text messages on time. customer service told me to dial *228 and hit #2 when told to upgrade my roaming capabilities.
doing this made the text messaging work and wiped out the "Verizon Wireless" on my screen. maybe u can try that.
