I know virtually nothing about cell phones My LG 8700 rings 14 times before an incoming call goes to voicemail. Does anyone out there know if I can shorten the # of rings before voicemail kicks in?

I don't know about your specific carrier, but the time before the voicemail kicks in, is usually set by your carrier.
I used to work for AT&T, and we would always advise people to leave the ring time set at 20-25 seconds, becuase anything longer (30 seconds +) would charge the customer airtime.
You may need to contact your provider and see if there is something they can do. Ask how long it is currently set for, and then ask if your can reduce it to 25 seconds. That should give the phone about 4-5 rings, or if you've got a ringtone 1-2 times through the ringtone, if it's a longer one.
Hope this helps!

Yes, it helps. I timed it and it's already set at 25 secs so I guess I'll leave it there. Thanks.

No Problem. Happy to help.
If you want it any shorter though, you would need to contact your carrier.
