I think vzw's upgrade is better, only for the primary, because they give an extra amount for that line. I've been told that the subs get new customer pricing for upgrades after 2 years, Sprint's is for all lines after 22 months and the primary can upgrade every year after completing the 1st 2 year contract.

wow. no one really knows how sprint upgrade policy is.
Upgrade Policy:
1 Year After Activation --> $75.00 retail Price
22 Months After Activation --> $150.00 retail price
Here is the thing about the $150 sprint doesn't just give you 150 off they give you the phone at the NEW two year agreement price.
Example:
Samsung Rant --> $299.99
1st year --> $224.99
22 month --> $49.99
Also, sprint has a premier program. which means you will be able to upgrade your phone early every YEAR for the NEW two year agreement price.
so your wonderful Samsung Rant after a year if you are a premier member you will pay $49.99 for it
if you are going to talk crap on sprint, you better learn how they operate first. Another thing is when ever you upgrade your phone at the discounted price u will have to sign a new contract/

Ok, I am coming to sprint, with an existing phone. I get the whole idea that I have to sign a 2 year contract for my plan. What I am confused about is this: One sprint rep told me that I could come with an existing phone and still be available for an upgrade whenever I wanted. So, I thought this was good. Then, I call a friend of mine who works for sprint (a kiosk) and he said no, that isn't possilbe, even with an existing phone, I am not eligible for 2 years. So, I called sprint again, she then verified that my friend was right. But she then transferred me to another department, which turns out to be the cancellation dept. He told me something different. He said that those people are "lying" and that I would be eligle after a year $75 and $150 after two, but he said that coming with a phone I am eligible at any time. He advised me to tell them that I will only become a customer if this is put in place and put in my notes on my account. So, who do I believe? I want the pre when it comes out, so if I start now do I believe that they will honor the upgrade? I want to get my friend the $100 referral reward, by the end of the month, and I want to purchase from our local store. I am only trying to help everyone out, but it is getting ridiculous!

Ok, I have now joined sprint. Yesterday, it took me 4 1/2 hours to set up an account. I told them that I wanted to make sure that I am still available for an upgrade since I didn't buy a phone from them. All was well at first. Then, I went to the store to give the ESN number and all of a sudden, there wasn't an account anywhere! The rep at the store called and she got a completely different answer than what I did. So I called from my verizon phone and got the opposite information that she had. So, I made them verifiy each of their stories. Wow, was that fun. The reps on the phones began to fight! One was right, the other wasn't. So, finally, the guy at national dealer support finally got me set up and was supposed to send me a confirmation via email for the upgrade. Guess what! No email. So now I have no idea of what kind of problems I will run into. I guess I never should have switched, but oh, well. By the way, I got a Palm Pro, not Pre, which isn't out of course. This phone is junk! Or,it might be it is smarter than I am. Ha ha.
winmo phones take a bit of customizing and getting used to but have more power an capabilties than other pda phones such as the iphone

bran,
yea i think you are screwed with upgrading to the palm pre later on. because even if you had your own equipment u still need to sign a 2 year agreement no matter what. i work for IPCS so i know a little bit. i doubt you will see the palm pre for atleast another year because of you signin that. the only other way is get to it off ebay or fight with them (fighting with them sometimes gets you kno where.) just remember you can return ur stuff within 30 days so you dont get hit with ETF

Im a little confused with the Sprint Upgrade Policy.
If I want to buy a $500 phone online
Instant savings is $200
Mail in Rebate is $100
Does being eligible for a $150 upgrade even configure into the price?
If not, what is the point?

I'm kind of confused about Sprint's upgrade policy.
I have a Palm Centro, and I'm almost at the 22 months mark where the upgrade discount is 150.00. Say I want to upgrade to the Palm Pre and the phone cost 575.00. I will get 150.00 off the phone, but will have to outlay almost 400.00 to get it. Is that true? And when will I get the extra 150.00 off? Why can't I get that discounts on the purchase of the upgrade?
If that's the case, I can buy the I***** and get the cheaper price on the phone and the same price on the data and voice. (note: my company gets discounted rates from all the carriers, and as far as plans, its about the same for all of the carriers -except Verizon - which is a few dollars more.
It's kind of funny since Sprint is losing customers that they should at least sweeten a deal to keep established customers. Sprint is finally coming out with some new phones that people would want (that is one of their biggest problems in the first place - besides their problem with customer service, which I must say is vastly improved), so if you a customer who completed their contract (or about to), they should at least make a deal for the initial outlay of the hardware. I don't want to pay nearly 400.00 just to get a Pre.
