ok, i have had sprint for 11 months, and in november it will be 1 year. On november 1st, i am eligible to save up to 75$ if i choose to purchase a new phone.
I am wondering
a) do i have to sign a new contract to get this eligibilty?
and
b) If i do sign a new 2 yr contract, do i then automatically get the discounted price on the phone + 75$ off, of is it just 75$ off from retail.
also- can i have tech supports number?

It's $75 off the retail price and I was told I don't have to extend my contract if I don't want to. But then again the store told me it was going to extend my contract if I upgraded my phone. So I guess it depends on who you're talking to. If you go on to the sprint website they have the numbers there or you can chat with cs rep. There's a button on the top right side of the page I believe.

The 75.00 is off of retail price, and you do need to sign a two year contract to get it.

All cell providers are like that. at least sprint gives you the option to do it every year rather than like verizon where you have to wait the two years.

i was actually doing some research and verizon does allow u to get 50$ off the DISCOUNTED price of the phone after 1 year, and 100$ off of the DISCOUNTED price after 22mo.
sprint takes the money off the retail prices of the phone and im infuriated because of how expensive the phone will STILL be. giving a 75$ discount off the retail price is like nothing! even taking 150$ off the retail price ofter 22mo with sprint is ridiculous. verizons policy is MUCH better and i hope someone from sprint reads this so they know how horrible their policy is.
ill even give an example
samsung rant = 299.99 retail price and the discounted price is 49.99 plus 50$ mail in rebate.
being a sprint costomer for 1 yr takes 75$ off the retail
being a verizon customer for 1yr takes 50$ off the discounted price
sprint's new price after 1 yr = 224.99 for the rant
verizons new price after 1 yr = FREE! plus 50$ mail in rebate
the difference in upgrade policy absolutely insane
even after 22mo with sprint id still be paying 150$ for the samsung rant
can somebody say r i d i c u l o u s?

yeah Verizon pretty much has the sweetest deal for upgrades, it is what it is man, if you want to walk into a verizon store and buy a phone at the discounted price they are offering it's no problem at all. You do have to extend your contract another 2 years but it's worth it if Verizon is your provider of choice. I wish Sprint would have a similar upgrade policy as well, since I don't like Verizon where I live, (lotsa friends of mine have it and I don't want to go through the problems they've had over the last few years.) Heck! I'd extend my contract 3 or 4 years if I could get a decent deal on a phone it doesn't even have to be the same policy as Verizon's just a bit better than what they offer now.
Say they have a phone offered for 49.99 to new sign-ups with a rebate offer as well. I would be willing to pay up to $99.99 for that phone with NO rebate and extend my contract two years, it's better than getting $150 off the retail and paying $130 (and up) for the same phone. Of course with that type of offer, you wouldn't have upgrade credits. Just a little thought Like that will happen.

Sprint has higher quality phones for one, so naturally they will cost a little more. two, verizon makes that money back by charging nearly double what sprint does for the extra's like text and internet.

verizons internet is like 1$/ day without a plan
say u want to use the internet for 2 days out of your month .
thats 2$ far 2 whole days. which is alot cheaper than buying a plan for the 2 days u wanna use the internet all day with sprint
