>>Now do the following step-by-step (without connecting the cable!)

Hi All,

Here is what i did for installation.
Windows XP SP 2 - Asia - Nokia suite on DKU 5 (Non-Orig) Cable

Step 1
========
DO NOT CONNECT CABLE TO PC
Download the DKU 5 Cable s/w from Nokia Website

Unzip the file and run the .exe file and click on the DKU 5 driver installation.

STEP 2
======
DO NOT CONNECT CABLE TO PC
Download the PC Suite s/w from Nokia Website

English Version direct download link (not allowed to post)

Install the Software.
The software will auto run on XP

STEP 3
======
Connect the cable to PC and Other side to your phone
Window will make a sound and it will ask you if it can find driver from internet.
I checked yes on search on internet and then went for default option that installed the driver.

Now the problem comes, The Nokia suite is stuck up on
Select the ocnnection -> Cable connection -> connect cable screen
It is searching and not finding the phone at all.

STEP 4
======
Check DEVICE DRIVERS ( Right click on My Computer - Properties - hardware - Device Manager)
Clcik on PORTS
If you installed cable s/w properly you will see
CP210x USB to UART Bridge Controller (Com 3) << Note this COM port number.

Step 5 (Final Solution)
=======
On right hand bottom Quick Launch click on Nokia PC suite
The program will open up and will show NO phone connected
Click on Manage connection
Click on Serial Cable (DKU5, CA-42)
On top Click on Configure
90% chances are this field is blank for you.
From the dropdown choose the Port Number that you saw on Device Manager step 4.
For me it was Com 3
Select and click on OK.

You will now find the Phone Connected.
I hope this will solve lot of peoples problem.
Drop me an email if this info heled you.
Regards

I have a 'made in China' DKU-5 / EK21005771 cable and went through some trouble getting it up and running.

Finally found the driver here:
(it won't let me post URLs, so you'll have to copy/paste and fix the link by hand)
h t t p : / / w w w . p r o l i f i c . c o m . tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=31
h t t p : / / w w w . p r o l i f i c . c o m . tw/support/files//IO%20Cable/PL-2303/Drivers%20-%20Generic/Windows/wd_ pl2303h-hx-x_v20019v2021.zip

To install in XP:
unzip and run exe
insert cable - cancel out of 'found hardware' wizard
open device manager
right click on unknown device, choose uninstall
from the menu select action/search for new hardware
device should now be recognized and shows up under Ports (Com & LPT)

Good luck,

Just bought a laptop running Windows Vista SP1 and installed the DKU-5 drivers (for 2000/XP) and set up an internet connection. Well connecting isn't a problem, it connects easily but then it drops the connection almost immediately sometimes, and after a few minutes other times.

It works on an XP machine I have (that's where I'm connecting from right now). So I figure Vista is the problem, probably doesn't support the drivers. Does anyone know where I can get updated drivers? Or another way around this problem? Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

Hello Everybody

Just wanted to share my new experience.

If your system fails to run due to an error corresponding to missing HAL.DLL, invalid Boot.ini or any other important system boot files you can repair this by using the XP installation CD. Simply boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console. Then launch "attrib -H -R -S" on the C:\Boot.ini file and delete it. Run "Bootcfg /Rebuild" and then Fixboot

Cheers,
Carl
