Hey guys, for those of you who bought a DKU-5 Cable like I have, check the label on the actual cable. If it doesn't have Nokia as the biggest letters in black, then it's not a genuine Nokia cable. It's a 3rd Party Cable, therefore the Nokia Drivers won't recognize it.
This is my unfortunate experience. I bought the cable from e-bay because the "Nokia" cable is 100.00$ CAD. Way too much to pay for a freaking cable.
Well good luck and hopefully you do have a genuine Nokia cable to install the drivers, otherwise you're out of luck.

Wat je nodig hebt is een programmaatje die de driver laat vinden door van de usb een seriele poort te maken (com-3), daarna kan
de driver gevonden worden en dus ook de telefoon

I too was having problems installing the driver for the DKU-5 cable for my Nokia 3100b (Type:RH-50).
After reading this thread I was able to get my cable working.
Thanks to "stabor23" for pointing out that I actually had a Prolific cable (Plug and Play ID "Vid_067b&Pid_2303")
Also like to say thanks to "jonin6" who made me realize I don't have an official Nokia cable and software. Like you said...

I too bought this cable for cheap ($20-$40 CAD can't remember) compared to the Cell Phone Serivce Providers prices ($100 CAD).
So make sure of the cable you have or you will be spinning your wheels and going nowhere with the wrong cable with the wrong drivers.
Good luck to all

I was also having trouble with the DKU5 Cable and tried many differant software hopping to find a way to make it work. I have found that the driver on the Susteen DataPilot CD works great. When the cable is pluged into the USB port it will search for the drivers on this CD and install it as a Prolific USB-to-Serial Bridge (COM3). One of the 2 drivers it loaded seems to be a Motorola USB Driver. I would be happy to post a zip of my drivers if someone has a place for me to upload them to.

OK, first off this is for people with Prolific DKU-5 cables. If you have done the stuff in this thread and you still have problems you may have a Prolific cable. For give me if some of this has already been stated on this thread, I have read so many today I can't rememer which one is which; but I am posting on all of them to bring what I have found together.
I only know this works with (although it will likely help more):
Windows XP Pro
Prolific DKU-5 (see later for how to find out if this is what you have)
Nokia 3100b
OK, first check and see if you have a prolific cable in your registry.
Start, Run, type "regedit" (no quotes), hit ok
Then go throgh to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ CurrentControlSet
++ Enum
+++ USB
If in "USB" you have an entry: "Vid_067b&Pid_2303" then you have a Prolific cable.
(I think the 2303 part is what is important)
NOTE: I recived a url to download drivers from the retaler of the cable, but although the driver installed, no programs could see my phone. (MobiMB, Oxygen, Nokia PC Suite)
I found the working driver by checking the "File" box and searching for "2303"
A good ways from the top I found and downloaded this:
-----------------------------
wd_pl-2303.zip
PL-2303H/X/HX Installshield Driver Setup Program v2.0.0.12 for Win98SE/ME v2.0.0.18 for Win2K/XP (XP Logo Certified) for Prolific USB VID/PID Only
-----------------------------
There are other drivers, such as 2303x, so it is my guess that you just match your registry entry and OS to which driver you need.
After this I just installed it, restarted, and pluged in my cable, windows found the driver and installed it to COM3. (Named Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port)
I had to restart because I had removed the older drivers, but you may have to anyway.
Then I got MobiMB to connect. Then connected with Nokia PC Suite 6.2.18. I have read several places that the Nokia PC Suite will not work with a generic cable, but I had no trouble what so ever. I just went to connections checked "Serial cable", clicked "Configure..." and chose Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3). And it worked fine from then on.
PLEASE, reply with questions, coments, problems, or at least tell me if it worked.
Lastly, does anyone know where to get some good java apps for your phone? (J2ME)

I have been trying everything on my windows xp pro with sp2, still no luck getting it to pickup my Prolific dku-5 cable. I'd like to try out your drivers....hopefully they will work for me as well. How can i get them?

I didn't find the prolific entry in the registry, but then where does that come from if you only install the nokia driver? anyway looked at prolific.com but could not find a reference to DKU-5 cable, what do I need to look for?
any help would be good, looking forward to not having the 'Nokia PC Suite' not working properly!
