I did get it to work, but I have to start the PC with the phone connected, if I touch the phone, say check a picture it drops the connection and it does not matter what I do, except for restart.

Plan to try some other software with it and see if it is the cable/driver or PC-Suite it self icon_confused.gif

hi all,

i had "really serious" problems with this goddamn prolific dku-5 cable, but at last i can install the driver from prolific web site as stated on previous posts and now nokia pc suite sees my 6220 phone. icon_devil.gif

thanks everybody! icon_razz.gif

but (this is a big but!) now when i try to use any of the tools listed in pc suite, selected application starts, tries to do what it is meant to be, then finally says "there was a problem".

it cannot access my phone... icon_sad.gif

i tried to increase modem's and cable's speed to 115200, but this didn't help.

did anyone got this problem and could find a solution?

your help will be greatly (this is a big greatly!) appreciated.

cheers...

Hey

I have read and re-read all the post about the DKU 5 cables, the prolific cable, the drivers et al....and I am not really any closer to getting this damn setup to work. Or if I am, I dont know it!

I have a prolific cable and driver. Nokia 6820. And nothing happening at all. The system reads the cable, and the port (on COM3), but the Nokia PC Suite (ver 5.8, from the nokia site), does not read the phone at all. I have tried all the permutations of booting rebooting, installing, reinstalling, with cable plugged in and without, etc etc.....
am ready to tear my hair out

SIGH
Help, please

icon_cry.gif I have read over and over, and over, and followed all procedures indicated by previous posts... and still can't get this darn thing to work.

What I have:

- Nokia 6585
- DKU-5 (ebay purchased 2 weeks ago, it says DKU-5 all over (NOT DKU2 for sure))
- Windows XP Home Edition, SP2

One thing I've seen on previous post, is that some of you have gotten the PC to, at least, recognize the cable. But in my case, I have followed instructions posted by STABOR23, but have been unsuccessful to get any progress at all!!!

STABOR23 SAYS:
+-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Then go throgh to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
+ CurrentControlSet
++ Enum
+++ USB

If in "USB" you have an entry: "Vid_067b&Pid_2303" then you have a Prolific cable.
(I think the 2303 part is what is important)"
+-----------------------------------------------------------------

I go there to my registry and I see other "Vid_'s" but none that says 2303... does that mean I DO NOT have a Prolific cable? Everything indicates that the cable that is widely sold at ebay as DKU-5 are those prolific cables!!!.. or not?

Well, even though there was no such entry in my registry, I went ahead and dowloaded the prolific driver from the website "wd_pl-2303h_hx_x.zip", and unzipped it and ran it (installed it), rebooted, and nothing!.

When I mean nothing, I mean that everytime I plugged the cable to the usb port, there's a message that comes out saying "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfuncitoned and windows does not recognize it"

When I go to check at Device Manager to see if PORTS (COM & LPT) shows some progress... NOTHING!!! I read some of you at least get something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3)"... well, I GET Communication Port (COM1) and ECP Printer Port (LPT1) meaning NO PROGRESS!!!! this is really driving me nuts!!!!

For some reason, windows XP is not associating the driver with the DKU-5 cable.

Please, Please shed some light to this helpless soul.

Julian

Hi there,
I've a simple question (I'm trying to figure out step by step what's going wrong with my connection..)
Is DKU-5 the right cable for my Nokia 3100?
Thank you
Max
