First things first, I downloaded PC Suite 6.41 off the Nokia site, installed it in my Windows XP Pro PC...Just today, I bought a DKU-5 cable....
I've downloaded the Nokia DKU-5 cable driver, and installed it but then when I got it finished, and added new hardware, Windows detected a USB device, but then detected it as "UNKNOWN DEVICE"...., in that case, I can't use PC Suite......
I need help.....pls......
BTW, when I click the link above, the page says "ACCESS IS DENIED" so I don't know what stuff can be found there to fix my problem...

I found that my cable was actually a prolific, and installed the wd_pl-2303h_hx_x.zip drivers and got my 6610 to work with the PC Suite 6.41.6.
Well, then I connected my P800 to the laptop, and now when I connect the cable to phone it (the 6610) shows "Accessory not supported".
Dunno whether I should try reinstalling drivers on laptop.
Ideas ?

Hi all,
I have a Nokia 6225 and a Prolific DKU-5 cable.
After going through very frustrating experiences, I came to a workaroud that allows me to download the photos from the phone.
I assume that you have the drivers installed, the connection configured and PC-Suite installed.
1) Reset the computer and disconnect the cable from the phone
2) Reset the phone
3) When the computer is ready reconnect the cable to the phone
4) Open Nokia Phone Browser and work
5) Repeat the entire procedure when the program hungs (it hungs regularly after downloading a few photos)
6) It's a tedious way, but it's the only way to use the cable...
Not tested with syncronization or modem.
Good Luck,
Alessandro

After searching the net for a solution I've found this thread.
I've got a imitation cable with "CSB CABLE" on it, and I didn't got it to work with the nokia drivers.
I've downloaded:
wd_pl-2303hx_v20014v20026.zip
PL-2303H Installshield Driver Setup Program v2.0.0.14 for Win98SE/ME v2.0.0.26 for Win2K/XP (XP Logo Certified) for Prolific USB VID/PID Only
After intsalling it, I started Oxygen Phone Manager, and added port 4.
And now it finally works!

Help!
I have a Nokia 6225 which is connected (I can do backups) but it won't show up in the Explorer. Windows XP Pro, DKU-5 cable. Also I don't see Phone Browser as an option when I right click the system tray icon for the phone, I see the Image Editor, etc. but no Phone Browser. Any suggestions? I am using 6.4.8 software.

I Have a Nokia 6010 (seen as 3595) and could not get PC Suite to recognize cable.
(is there something I missed?)
I use logomanager which works beautifully with the cable.
under Download - USB 1.1 Full Speed Cable Controlers and you will find drivers for the PL-2303
I would like to upload/download from my contacts but don't have working software.
Any low cost ideas to help out?
Thanks

I fouhgt with my DKU-5 aftermarket cable for four hours yesterday. I read so many posts and idea on the web but to no avail. Nothing has worked yet. Nokia 6800 phone, DKU-5 cable, Windows 2000 Pro, p3 700 on an Abit be-6 mboard. I dont understand it. When I install my cable it looks dofr a driver for "TUSB3410 boot device" I havent seen anything bout that yet. So i email nokia this is what they sent me to try.
When you receive an error message when installing the DKU-5 Data Cable, please check the following:
First, make sure that the selected USB port is working. If it is not, try another USB port on your PC. Then, check that the cable is correctly installed by going to Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware (tab)>Device Manager. Under Device Manager, click on the '+' by Ports. Once you do this you should see where it lists "Port One on Nokia Adapter" under the Ports menu. If you see this, then the cable has installed correctly. If not you will need to reinstall the cable software.
Once you verify the cable has been installed correctly, go to Start>Control Panel>Nokia Connection Manager. When you are in the Device Manager, you would want to make sure that only the Serial Port is checked and not the USB. When the Serial Port has been checked, go into "Configure" and pick the Com Port that has the "Port One on Nokia Adapter" on it. Once you do this, you should be able to connect without problems.
Nokia PC Suite must have COM port one (1) free in order to talk to the phone via cable or infrared.
Common conflicting applications are other synchronizing software, antivirus software, software for digital cameras, etc. If you have any of these applications open, they can be closed by, using their icons to the left of the clock in the lower right portion of your screen (Systray).
Also, it is necessary to use Nokia Original enhancements. Any enhancement purchased from a third party company or from a web site other than www.Nokia.com/us may not be an original Nokia cable, in which case Nokia does not support it.
If after following these steps you continue having difficulties with your connection please try the following.
Un-install the data cable software, with the cable plugged in, remove the “Multi-port Serial Adapter” and the “Nokia DKU-5 Data Cable listed in your COM port from your system’s Device Manager, unplug the cable from your personal computer (PC). Also un-install PC Suite from Add and Remove programs in your computer’s Control Panel (if it was installed), and then restart your PC.
Then run the Register Cleaner tool. You can find the tool by visiting our web site at www.Nokia.com/us or by following this direct link:
Re-install the DKU-5 data cable driver software. The name of the driver is usbvsp.sys and generally installs in the Windows Directory at C:\Windows\system32\drivers.
When asked for the file while loading the DKU-5 driver, click on the Browse button and point the computer towards the path listed above. This will load the usbvsp.sys file and allow you to continue the installation.
Please note, during the installation, you should only connect the data cable to the phone when prompted to do so. You may then proceed to install PC Suite.
*****, it was a pleasure assisting you. We hope that the provided information will be helpful. If you have any additional questions please call us at a convenient time for you, and one of us in the Technical Support Group will be happy to assist you. We will also be able to check the authenticity of your cable.
