I was a member of Sprint for 12 years until today (actually tomorrow). They are a waste of time and money. I was supposed to get the $150 discount also. I have not had a contract with Sprint for 10 years.
I was actually told that a new plan would cost me more than what it would cost a new customer. I even e-mailed the CEO the text of the conversation I had and never got a reply. And yes I did expect a response since I have gotten responses from all other CEO's offices that I have e-mailed.
Money was no object, but not giving me the discounts I was told I would get were a big deal. I hate companies that lie and especially companies that tell me they will give me my discount, but then tell me the plans and new phones will cost more than if I just joined as a new customer. I was actually told that if I used my $150 discount then I would be paying more than a new customer.
I am getting 3 new phones and three different plans from Verizon tomorrow. I belong to a lot of internet groups and state groups. I will advise everyone to drop Sprint.
My family, father-in-law and two brother-in-laws travel together around the country. My father-in-law and brother-in-laws always got better reception with Verizon than my Sprint phone and I am regretful now that I did not change to the Verizon network they belong to a long time ago. Now it is definitely time to change to Verizon.
My wife, my daughter and I will be at the local Verizon store tomorrow and we will walk out with not only new phones, but new plans and get better service. My father-in-law and brother-in-laws have had Verizon for as many years with new every two and never had the problems I have had with Sprint.
We traveled from Texas to Florida a few years ago and my father-in-law had a problem with his phone. The local Verizon store gave him a new phone. He did not have to wait for one to be mailed or fixed. I should have changed providers back then.
Yes, IOWA, people do expect company loyalty with certain companies like cell phone companies. No, I do not shop at Wal-Mart. Even when money is no object, IOWA, I expect loyalty and discounts that have been offered since I first signed up with Sprint. I do not expect to pay the same as someone that is a new customer.
It does not matter if I had to pay twice what Sprint charges after what I was told. I will no longer be with Sprint and I will talk others into dropping Sprint. You talk about being able to spend so much yet you talk about the discounts you get in the same breath. Apparently you count on Sprint discounts to remain a member of Sprint.
Higher quality phones do not matter if you cannot get a connection when someone with a Verizon phone is able to make a call.
We also use a laptop for any and all internet while on the road. Why use a dinky cell phone with such a small screen if you can afford better?
I figure that you, IOWA, either work for Sprint or have been brainwashed by them. A cell phone that works is better than any cell phone that does not work. And my Sprint phone did not work in many areas where the Verizon phones worked.
It seems you, IOWA, stay with Sprint because they give you a lot of discounts and you cannot afford to go with the better service provided by Verizon nor afford their phones and plans.
Not your fault, IOWA, you have to stay with Sprint because of economic conditions and need the discounts they give you. It happens to a lot of people.
But some people are smart enough to realize that Sprint is not what they say they are and that some people just get brainwashed or either work for Sprint that come on this forum. I just wish I had found out about Sprint before now.
I was going to get 3 unlimited calling plans from Sprint on three different phones, but now I will get the same from Verizon.
Everyone should leave Sprint before they sign another contract with them. It will make them feel better to leave. And I am sending a copy of the conversation I had with Sprint to the Verizon CEO. Maybe they will use it in a commercial.

Lmao! wherever verizon has service sprint has service due to roaming contracts. good game. owned. Also, go ahead and use verizon's slow and CAPPED broadband service. meanwhile, i'll enjoy using my laptop with speeds 5x faster than any other provider with unlimited usage, and at a better price. score sprint 3, verizon 0.

haha good point iowa. but he may be referring to sprint coverage only.
not to get off topic right now, even though we kinda already are,
WHERE R THE SANYO PHONES FOR SPRINT?
i miss them. the current ones are ugly and got bad reviews!
im stuck with the samsung rant which i dont hate, but im not too thrilled with it.
i remember in like 05,06 when sprint had like at least 3 sanyo models out at a time. that better come back because they are the best type of sprint phones lol

I've shifted back towards palm and am even embracing htc models, even though htc models tend to be a bit pricey.

I am just so mad because my rant has been giving me legit problems, while my katana II give me little B.S. problems which could easily be forgotten.
grrrr! the reception on that phone was better than the rant! and i feel like if i dont get a sanyo, im not going to be very happy with sprint

well unfortunately thats my only bet. there are 2 sanyo models on the market, both katanas. both very ugly. 1 is a lower end phone (LX) and the other is mid range (eclipse X) . the mid range got bad reviews. i wouldnt get a lower range phone.
therefore, i have nothing

Screw the reviews. just look at statistics and facts. the x is very similiar to my dlx, and my dlx has been a pleasure to use. That's what i use to post on this forum

one thing i also look at is the SAR rating of the cell phone. if it is high, i tend to stay away from it due to the risks and urges of cancer, tumors , etc. the dlx has a pretty high rating especially compared to its younger brother, the kat. II

BlueTooth Plus there is no proof of it actually doing anything. we get bombarded by worse rays from the sun every day than what a cell phone puts out.
