Tmobile switched to 3G and they are saying sound quality is better on 3G. So, would a phone with 3G have a better voice quality over non-3G phone if everything else is the same?
My phone is getting old. I am looking for a new phone. I don't use data/internet/text, just voice calls and sometimes take pictures. I am curious if I should consider 3G as a feature.
Thanks.

the voice quality is going to be the same as the 2g network. The only difference is a newer phone may sound better because if improvements to the technology in the phone.
Actually the compression and decompression of the sound waves is more efficient and is of higher quality using 3g technology. that is why sprint became so popular in such a hurry back in the 90s. it was 3g that made thier call quality superior to all other carriers at that time. now with 4g rolling out by sprint, who knows What's going to happen

OK, thanks. I didn't know about the 4G. I will check that out.
4G Is still in testing in select cities. nationwide rollout isn't expected until late 09, which is still light years ahead of verizon, att, and tmobile's 4g standard, lte.
