Hey deredere, i have just updated today my P900 firmware to version R3D011 (Phone) easily by using the "Sony Ericsson Update Service" and by simply following the step by step instructions, by the program when asked.
I don't know why you mention the "C" button, this is used with other phones but not the P900.
Things you will need to do the update:
a) "DSS-25" base USB
This is a base which i did not get with my P900.
I had the DSS-20 which did not work so i borrowed this from a friend of mine. If you check underneath the base you will see this code below the "CE F" logo.
Mine was DSS-20 and did not work with the SW for updating the phone.
b) Once you get the above HW, go to the Sony Ericsson site, and in the search box (top right) enter DSS-25 and you will get 4 links. The 3rd one is the drivers titled "Sony Ericsson - Support - Desk Synchronization Stand DSS-25 - USB Drivers"
Download these cause you will need them.
c) Then go back to the main page and in the Search box type "P900 update service". You will see some links. The first one is P900 Software. Go there and the 2nd option / link from the P900 page will be "Update your product software".
Click on this and download the SW which you will run to update your phone.
d) When you have all these files, you can simply plug in the USB cable of the DSS-25 base, it will ask for drivers, point to the location where you downloaded them in step a) and it will install the drivers.
Then, install the SW from step c) and once it has finished installing it will automatically run and download some updated files.
Important Note:
If you have this "Phone Connection Link" process in your taskbar which is what Windows uses to connect with the phone (via USB, Bluetooth, etc) it is VERY VERY important that you double click this and from the options you MUST REMOVE the check in the box where is refers to USB. This is what i had to do in order for the SW to work with the phone.
Finally, the program will instruct you to remove the phone from the base, take out the battery, put it back in (DO NO SWITCH ON THE PHONE) and put it back on the base.
Then wait a while and the update will start. It took me some minutes before the update started and quite some time to finish.
If you don't have this Phone Connection Link app, then you should go back to the P900 Software page and download the Sony Ericsson PC Suite, in which this is embedded.
Note: If you follow step by step the following you shouldn't have any problem in doing this.
