I bought a Unlocked T-Mobile Razr V3i for my wife and we now cannot send any messages with attachments (Pictures, Music, Etc). I assume there is a way to change the browser settings from T-mobile to Medianet? How do i change the settings from T-Mobile to AT&T? I called AT&T and they were no help, i am not a cell phone guru so if anyone has anything that may help it would be great.

Thanks Much. icon_wacko.gif

I'm assuming you have an online account with AT&T. If not, go sign up for one (https://www.wireless.att.com/olam/dashboardAction.olamexecute) - its free and provides a lot of help for questions and general account management. Available from AT&T's online service is the Answer Center (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp).

AT&T's setup for the RAZR V3i is also there. Here is a direct link to their setup instructions for MMS: http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&solut ionId=KB65145

To setup MEdia Center (the browser configuration), here is the direct link:
http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&solut ionId=KB65160.

Post with information on how it went or if things don't work out. I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for getting back to me. I do have a AT&T account online. I also went through both the links you provided.

Access the Motorola RAZR V3i Browser Settings link: i do not have the Web access link on my Phone (#3).

Configure MMS settings for the Motorola RAZR V3i: The Sever Info(#6) all i can get is MMS.

I am still scratching my head. Any other ideas would be great.

Thanx

[so, in retrospect, I think this post might be WAAAY to long. I'm not changing it, but I do apologize for the length. I hope its helpful, despite the week or so a person needs to read it.]

Happy to help. I love the RAZR and enjoyed working on mine. They're great phones and very easily customized - to the point that you can find help from pretty much every corner of the internet.

With regards to configuring MMS, you can simple change that server to match the settings from the instructions. The service name doesn't matter (MMS, Cingular MMS, whatever), but the server name is what directs your multimedia messages through AT&T.

With regards to your browser, it sounds like T-Mobile locked the configuration settings for your web sessions. It may be that they re-arranged the menu items so that the web sessions link is somewhere else. Go through each menu regarding settings and/or the internet and see if any of them lead you to the web sessions. If you do find it, just follow the instructions from step 4.

Its important to know that title of your connections isn't important. So if you don't see "Cingular MMS" or "MEdia Net", you can simply go into an existing connection, edit the server information there and still connect just fine. I mention this because your phone is from T-Mobile and won't have any of the Cingular/AT&T profiles set up.

If it turns out that the web sessions menu item is nowhere to be found, then you'll need to get that menu item unlocked. If you have a friend who is with T-Mobile, you may be able to have them call up T-Mobile and get tech support for your phone. He'll probably need to put his SIM chip in that phone for them to do anything, but they may have some easy tech-support trick up their sleeve.

Otherwise, you're going to need to do it yourself. I've typed up a minimal walkthrough of the basics below. I highly recommend reading up on hacking the Razr V3i first - a well-written (but long) site is :http://www.hackthev3i.com/. Like I said, the RAZR is widely understood and so there are a lot of resources to work on it and its good to have an idea of what you're doing.

Post with how it goes, whatever ends up working!

=========================

It is only right to make a disclaimer here. Editing the settings of your phone's software can be problematic if you don't know what your doing. Follow my instructions below and/or do some research online. It is possible to brick your phone: to irreversibly make it unusable. Additionally, do not try to edit your software without first fully charging the phone. If the phone dies mid-way through, well, that'd be bad. Its usually possible to recover, but why tempt fate? In any case, I will not take responsibility for any problems with your phone.

If you're uneasy with taking this risk, mild though it may be (and it really is), don't continue. If something goes wrong, don't go hunting for my head - while I'm glad to help, I simply can't guarantee work that I don't actually do myself! That said, lets see what needs to be done.

There is quite a bit of software out there (for PCs) to tweak the various RAZR versions, but the best way to do this one task quickly is with two pieces of software (click the the names):
1) Motorola Software Update (version 1.11.36)
2)P2k Advanced Editor (build 5515)

You will also need a mini-USB cable to connect your phone to your computer.

Download those both and install them both. I've used them both; for what its worth, you have my personal guarantee that they won't wreck your computer.

Unlocking the web sessions menu:
1). Run Motorola Software Update

2). Plug in your phone - Motorola Software Update will recognize your phone - let it do so, but then just let it sit there - we only want it to recognize the phone & install the necessary drivers so we can use the other program - when it says "phone connected" & gives the phone model, carrier & IMEI, then you're set. Leave it open, but minimize the program.

If your phone is not recognized, come back to the forums and we'll try another tack

3). Run P2K Advanced Editor and click "connect in P2K mode' - The red dot in the upper left hand corner should turn green to indicate that the phone is connected.

4). Click on "Phone Services", then "SEEM Functions" and then "SEEM 32 Functions" - a window will pop up that may look intimidating (fear not!)

5). In the text area that reads "Filter", type in "Web Sessions" and click "find" - A list of settings will pop up, we're looking for the one that reads WEB_SESSIONS_MENU_AVAILABLE

6). Click "Read from Phone" to get your phone's settings - if the check boxes next to the above field are empty, click them

7). Click "Write to Phone", wait for the confirmation box to pop up. Click okay and then exit out of that screen.

8). Click "restart phone"

9). Let your phone restart and then go edit that web session!

There were no current updates for the Razr V3i for AT&T on the Motorola Website. What one do i download on the P2k Editor? They all seemed to bring me to the Driver Detective Website to buy their Product. Other than that i am scratching my head still.

In the instructions I posted above, there are two links that provide the programs you need to install if you want to unlock the menu item through my method.

Have you tried searching for the 'web sessions' menu item on the phone? If so - and not having found it - have you tried to get a friend with T-Mobile to call tech support?

I am attempting to reconfigure the WEB Access setting on my used unlocked Tmobile Razor w/ my ATT SIM card. I was advised by TMobile that ATT needed to pprovide me with the "DOTAC" code. ATT is currently closed. Does anyone out there have any knowledge in regards to this situation? My problem is that I have no WEB access and no browsers avaialable to me.

I had the same problem of not having the Web Access menu item. I enabled it by changing seem 0032_0001 offset 51 to "1" using P2KTools.

Once Web Access was there I was able to add new browser and MMS settings. However, I still couldn't get MMS working even after using settings on the AT&T help site and various other sites (different sites showed different settings). That's where I'm stuck now -- anyone have a solution?
