ummm...so you have Wireless Internet NOT wireless internet Express? because from what i've experienced, newer phone models have most of the time failed to work on regular WIRELESS INTERNET. if you try to log on it would most likely say the network or server is busy and/or most of the time it'd not let you go through. the best ideal about wireless internet though is that it uses up your minutes rather than charge you by how much data you send or recieve (how many pages you view)...so instead of having ure daytime minutes drained, use ure night and/or weekend minutes! I only use WIRELESS internet on my phone to be able to plug it into my Laptop and use it as a MODEM...thats practically all you can do with WIRELESS INTERNET. so if you really want to use ure handheld instead as a MODEM then WIRELESS internet would be perfect BUT if you want to use ure phone seperately and not to mention the fast GPRS internet that comes with WIRELESS INTERNET EXPRESS then call Cingular and have them provision your phone! just dont forget...wireless internet is more commonly used for OLDER phones!!

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Samsung x426 that a friend was using with her AT&T service. I am now using it on my cingular service, but I cannot get the internet to work or download ringtones. I am getting the run around from Samsung and from Cingular. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
I am having the same problem as above. I am sucessfully using my cingular sim card in the ATT phone, however I cannot get the internet settings to work properly. I changed the wap settings as mentioned on other posts but when I try to get ringtones, it still shows ATT's M-mode failing to connect.
Can anyone help me with this?

for those of you using AT&T and Cingular equipment mixed together....
Don't quote me on this, i'm not a technician...
The new GSM America plan that AT&T is offering with the little blue bars over poeple's head is actually the Cingular Nation network. It's part of the intigration process between the two companies. I'd expect that's why you are able to use one company's SIM in the other's phone without problems.
What happens though, is that when you attempt the finer things in the phone, like internet, downloads and such... you are getting a bit more specific. The Cingular Network (or AT&T Network, depending on where you stand) uses a bit more technical crap in the process, going beyond just the SIM to establish communication. The WAP browser version might be kicking it out, it could be the service request information, it could be a chip set issue.
It seems liekly to me, but again i'm not a technician. I would honestly expect that once December roles around, you should have free reign of either system. Once the companies merge, i would think the specs from AT&T will be added to Cingular's.
Hope it helps
