I have the g1 and do like it. I like the ability of an open platform and I candecide waht apps to download and what will work for me. Many new apps coming out every day. Yes there are some that are pointless but we don't have to downlosad them all. It is worth the money

Does anyone know what it costs to "unlock" a phone with Tmobile? And.If I unlock my G1 has anyone had any experiences with other carriers using one. Maybe like Cricket and such.
Thanks

I've got an unlocked G1 working on AT&T. Cost? Look on ePay for unlocked G1s.
Once the phone is activated you don't even need a data plan. OK, you do need a SIM card that is hooked up to a data plan to activate the phone, but I used a friend's SIM to activate it, and then popped my SIM in and everything is cool. I get my 'net access from wifi hotspots and from my own wireless network at home.
The unit is awesome and is more like a computer than a phone. GMail and Google calendar sync with the phone. Yes, there are dozens of apps, just find an Android message board and see what people are recommending.

I do not have one, but have talked to people that do. they all said they like it. there is an android update coming out, actually one is already out and a new one coming soon. The new update is called "cupcake". If you google 'G1 + android update' it will come up with inforamtion.also remember the G1 has no video at this time

Go to MYWORLDPHONE if you want to purchase an unlocked G1 phone.
www.-edited-
They have 2 versions of the phone.
one version is $449.99 in black or white and it is the one tmobile carries
or
another version that is also unlocked but has more features the android software than what you see with the tmobile version. for $499.99
for FYI the unlocked version is called the HTC DREAM phone. good luck. I love my G1 best phone so far in my opinioin.
