I recently got the Samsung Eternity phone, and I do like it a lot.
However, suddenly my incoming text messages (all the texts in my inbox) have been saving to my Sim Card instead of my phone.I don't know how it changed or anything.I just realized suddenly it was doing that.
My outgoing messages (all the texts in my Sent box) are all saved to my phone.
How do I change my incoming messages onto the phone instead of Sim Card?
Thanks a bunch.

Unfortunately that is the way the phone is designed, and actually you have it backwards, it will save all that it can to the sim card first and then when it runs out of memory they will start saving to the phone, its too keep more memory free on the phone is why, you can delete them off of the sim if it bothers you too much, that is the way every one of our phones is designed to work so there is no way to change that, sorry bout that, hope it doesn't bother you too much

I just didn't notice it saved to my sim card before. There's a little icon that looks like the sim card on the icon that has the envelope in my inbox. I never noticed it before.
But, not.it doesn't bother me. I just tried to figure out how to change it. When I get an idea in my head.it won't get out! LOL.
Then, since that's the case. The text messages saved on my Sim Card, does it effect the memory overall on it?
Like, the text messages saved on my sim card, does it effect how many contacts I can have saved on my sim card?

The answer to that question is no, it doesn't affect the amount of contacts that you save to your sim card is still 250, keep in mind that you can only save one number to one name on the sim, so if you have multiple numbers for one contact that would be a seperate name and number for every different number. Hope that makes sense lol

I was actually toying with my text messages today. I had been going through and locking text messages when I came across one that was from my sister. When I went to lock the message, it wouldn't lock. So I checked the options on the message and found that I was able to save the message to the phone memory. Just throwing some info out there.

So, Bgreif, what is the purpose of saving the incoming text messages to the SIM card instead of the phone?
Actually, where Motorola phone are concerned, I do not believe this to be the case, unless you can show me that it is. I have 4 phone lines and 8 or 9 phones (8 Moto phones and 1 iPhone) and I've had to change various SIM cards in various phones. Never have I moved a SIM card from one phone to the other and seen the previous phone's message in the second phone. Nor have I ever changed SIM cards and noted that the phone's messages were no longer available.
I do not know how it works with the Eternity (in fact, I'm seriously considering buying one soon, hence my interest in this topic). However, the statement that "Every one of our phones work this way" in somewhat inaccurate.unless you can prove otherwise.
Sorry, but this is just how I roll.

my bad, your right, Sony & Samsung phones give you the option of saving your text messages to the sim card, Motorola does not, there is a choice in the menu to switch between saving to the sim and the phone for both the Sony & Samsung phones, not sure about Nokia or HTC, but it is phone dependent, some phones will give you that option and other phones do not, the ones that do though, will save to the sim card first and then to the phone by default, however you can change that in the menu

LG phones do not give the option to save to the phone or the SIM. I have an LG Shine and my messages are automatically saved to the phone until I run out of room in my text memory (it's like 175 or something like that) then I can save another dozen or so between outgoing and incoming messages to the SIM. Usually I don't have anything that important, so I just clean out both outgoing and incoming messages about once a week.

I just got a Samsung Propel and it is doing the same thing. It's sending my text messages to the SIM card but i want to save them to the phone instead so I have to send them to the phone then save them under a folder. I would rather have them all under the phone part and delete the ones i don't want and save the few that i do to a folder. bgreif, Is it or is it not possible to change the settings and stop them from saving to the SIM card? If so, can you please tell me how? thank you very much. Oh and how do you delete them off of the SIM card? Thanks
