1. Alright my parents refuse to sign a contract. So they never renewed, but they are still on a family plan thing. Me and them. 60$+10$ for my line a month. Great.
1b. Problem is their phone is dead. Gets no bars anymore so I gave them one old one of mine that works but its pretty old and horrible. Is there any way I can get a phone that doesn't cost 100$ I was looking at GoPhones, and im wondering if anyone know if I could just slap my SIM card in one of them and get it working??? That would be awesome?
2. We live out in the middle of nowhere. Our ONLY options for net are Dialup and Satalight (barf). I looked at the ATT site and all I found in data plans was limited to 5GB. Even the laptop connection thing is limited in the same way. Is there anything good for around 50$ a month thats not going to overcharge or do some bullshit? Just want to have fast net for once!
Thanks![/b]

Thanks, thats the answer ive been getting thanks for fortifying that.
I'd really like to know about the internet issue though. I keep getting dizzy with what people are saying and what the limitations are and what im able to do. I really dont want to drive up a $500 bill just because i played an online game that month and downloaded a couple large files.
Ive been looking at AT&T USBConnect Mercury. (cant post link due to new poster limitations.)
That for the access, but im still really confused about what ATT plan?
EDIT:
So im looking at data plans. One is for 60$ and limits to 5GB and includes "tethering". Another is 30$ 'Data Plan', and is unlimited, but doesn't include "tethering". Is it possible to tether your phone to the PC with the cheaper unlimited plan? Can someone point me to where I can learn more about this?
I'd gladly pay 60$ a month for unlimited. ATT needs to get on the ball, 5GB is laughable! Its $1000 more if you go 1GB over. Screw that!

I'm sure it is possible to tether any phone with or without a tethering plan. Realize that if you do and AT&T realizes whats going on, you will be charged accordingly - or they may simply suspend your account.
I would suggest shopping around to see what other carriers offer. T-Mobile allows tethering to a regular data plan without requiring a special type of plan. They do appear to have a 10GB limit.
Verizon doesn't seem to offering any tethering plans at all - either you use internet solely on your phone or through a network card on your computer. If you use it for tethering you are subject to repercussions - and there appears to be a 5GB limit for those who try to tether despite their setup.
Although 3G speeds allow for a great browsing experience on your phone or on your computer, I would suggest that the networks themselves are not (yet?) able to handle tethering on a large scale. That is probably why it is discouraged through bandwidth limits.
