Over the past 12 years, I have had services from Airtouch, Verizon and now-AT&T and each time I've renewed or changed services, I've been made to upgrade or buy a new phone and I have several in my drawer.

I accidentally put my phone in the washer and after drying it out, it still doesn't work and I don't have the $50 for the insurance to replace the phone.

I talked to someone at AT&T and they told me that if I could get Verizon to unlock these phones, I could use them, but when I went to a Verizon store, they refused to do this.

If I am NOT with Verizon and I bought the phone, why do they have the right to refuse to unlock this? How can I get this phone unlocked so I can use it? (I really don't care which of my phones I use.I have one of the first RAZR phones that came out from Verizon, an Audiovox CDM4000, a Nokia 5160, an LG VX4400.)

Can someone tell me how I can make any one of those phones workable or where I can find the code to unlock them?

Thanks.

I'm really surprised that someone at AT&T or Verizon told you that a Verizon phone could be made to work on the AT&T network. That is absolutely UNTRUE. AT&T uses the GSM technology while Verizon uses CDMA. Not at all compatible. It's not a matter of Verizon refusing to unlock the phone, they simply cannot. And they didn't explain this? Man, you've had a bad run of lousy customer support or else they didn't make you understand the issues.

If you're with AT&T, you can find either AT&T-branded phones or unlocked GSM phones for really cheap on Ebay. Although I don't know if you can fins anything cheaper than $50.00. Another idea is to get a GoPhone and put your SIM card in it. Those things are really cheap. I know of a LOT of people that have done this.

Good luck, Geri O
