---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------

I have the Dash with win mob 6.0.I do not have the data plan.I can connect very easily at free wifi spots with one exception.my favorite coffee shop.when I first turned on the wifi there it said new networks were available and found the coffee shop network.I have tried connecting numerous times and it will not.I have typed in the wpa -psk password numerous times.no go.here are the settings.
network type: internet
authentication: wpa-psk
Data encryption: tkip
key is automatically provided is UNCHECKED
Network key: typed in correctly
Key index says 1
use IEE802.1x. is CHECKED
Eap type is on smart card or certificate ( tried to change to peap but still would not connect and next time I looked it said smart card or certificate again)
Please help

I have found that sometimes when you put in a password with windows mobile that you need to wait a min for it to connect. my phone does that on my schools network. it looks like its not going to accept the connection and then it does after it sits there for a little.

also, after it rejects the connection, does it change any of the wifi settings?

Thank you for your reply.I have tried waiting.it starts to connect then just stops. No, it does not change any of the settings after refusing to connect.someone else suggested that I change the network key to 2, 3 or 4? Perhaps it already has something stored in 1 for a different network.Have not returned to coffee shop to try that yet

that's really strange. the network key number is set by the coffee shop. trying 2 or something else can't hurt but the should let you know that. and remember the key will be case sensitive.

I spent 30 minutes yesterday trying to enter different keys.just gave me error messages.then I noticed when I returned home it would not connect to my home wireless which is wep.I had to delete the wireless connection.reboot the phone , turn on wireless and when it recognized my home network as new I entered wep key and it came on and worked fine? So I must have wiped out the wep key trying to connect at the coffee shop by changing the key #'s etc
I have also tried wiping out the coffee shop wireless rebooting and starting over.no go?

idk what to say. windows mobile is so strange when you need to use a wpa method. I've never had that happen yet but it doesn't surprise me

Maybe the network has a wep encryption.

good point iowa. you are sure its a wpa paraphrase and not a wep code?

can your phone connect to any other wpa networks without a problem?

this is such a strange problem. I hope we figure it out.
