I found someone that had the same problem I'm having and he wrote it very clearly so I thought I'd copy paste it below. Unfortuantely, could not locate the answer.
I have it set up so certain ppl have certain ringers, however I want all text messages to have the same sound (not the ringer id). I have it set so text messages use the sound I want, yet if someone who has a ringer id text messages me it uses their id. how do i turn off ringer Ids for texts?
Thanks! I'm going crazy. This worked before (when my wife called it had a special ring, but when she sent a text msg it had the same text msg ringtone as all other text msgs), but then she changed her ringtone id on my phone and now I can't get it to work again because now BOTH her calls and Text msgs have her same ringtone).

There is no answer to this question. There may some kind of hack to fix this, but otherwise, there is no fix for this. Just the way it is.

The interesting thing was, this was working the way I wanted it to. until my wife changed the ringer id for herself, then it messed everything up. But at first it did work correctly in that it only had the ring iD for Calls but not for text messages. Wish I knew a workaround. You'd think Motorola would have come up with someothing by now.

I should have posted this with the first post I made, but try Howardsforum.com to see if there's a mod available for this. There's also phone-modding sites around that may have some ideas. You just have to be brave enough to hack your phone's software to do it.
Good luck, Geri O
