My phone fell in the sink, and I got it out immediately and got out what water I could. It worked ok for a couple of hours, but ever since, I'm getting a message saying the SIM door is unlocked and it shuts down after 10 seconds.
I've tried everything I can think of. removing and replacing the sim, trying it without the card, soft and hard reboots and nothing is working.
Is the phone done for? I've had it outside in the shaded heat so it must have dried out.
It is a work phone and I really need it, and I'm not looking forward to buying another phone but I will if I need to but I'm hoping there must be some kind of simple fix.
Can anyone help?

the phone is history, it would be best to get a new one but you can call HTC to see maybe about repair but that may cost as much as a new phone

i found on a different website a possible cure. by taking the sim card out, there is a little microswitch on there that may have had some water in it. I dabbed some alcohol on it and it may do the trick.
In fact, I swabbed most of the area under the sim to make sure it was indeed dry.
That switch has a little toggle on it and it likely came off in the drying process, so i was able to trip the toggle and the error message is now gone.
I'm not going to know if the phone is back to normal for a few more hours as the battery was almost completely dead.
Thanks for the response. hopefully I have it fixed.
