Hello - this is my first post, so forgive me if it is long! I've been reading over these forums the last week and hope I can contribute once I have my new phone
I'm looking for a new phone and new service. My company is paying, so I'm looking for the best. I need a phone that is either a PDA, or has PDA-like features. It has to sync well with Outlook, and ease of entering data onto the unit is important. Currently I'm carrying a Motorola v60 and a PocketPC PDA. One device that does both would be very nice. Sure, it'd be nice to stick with the familiar Pocket PC format, but I'd love to try something else too. Throwing in a camera is a bonus, and something I'd really like.
Is the P900/800 really the best answer? I don't mind carrying a PDA at work, but I'm not sure how big the 800 or 900 really are, and if that would be bothersome day-to-day or for example, out at night. Anyone care to share in that regard? They sure seem to have strong PDA features, and looks like good support for Outlook. That's a plus. I'm just worried about size. Of course, I'm also afraid if I go for something smaller, I'll sacrifice PDA-like features and syncing quality. Is there something that is the best of both worlds? The new Motorola and Samsung Smartphone's are nice, and probably guaranteed to have good Outlook/sync support, but neither have cameras, and I really don't know how they would stack up anyway. If anyone knows of a great Clam-shell or decently sized phone with superb PDA features and Outlook syncing, with a camera, please share!
Lastly - anyone have pictures of a P900/800 in someone's actual hand? Also, if I decide on a P900, which I can't buy in the US that I know of - is it risky to get one on Ebay that is from Europe and have it activated here? Any reason why or why not?
Thanks all - sorry for the long post. I tried to keep it small, but I'm too excited
oh yeah, my available service is Cingular, AT&T Wireless, Sprint, and Alltel.

I downloaded two photos of P800 in someone's hand from www.sonyericsson.com. Those are two big image files (more than 15MB each!) Anyway, I've converted them to smaller JPG images. Let me know how to send you these files if you want them.
As for my comments regarding P800, I think it's a bit too big for my taste, a little more than an inch in thickness. And it has only four-thousand-something colors.

i was measuring the demensions on paper and noticed the inch thickness on the P800 - that might be a bit much I think... my PDA currently is about half an inch, it's very slim.
no one has any suggestions for something in the middle?

Give the Sendo X a try. It is the most pocket friendly PDA-phone combo available at the moment. BTW, it has better entertainment and storage options than the P900. It is already available through some dealers based in Dubai, so I guess it might be available in the US as well. It has triband functionality as well.

You can even try the Nokia 6600 though I am not sure that you will like it, especially in front of the Sendo X and P900.

Well, nothing that I would die for, Sendo X however has built-in flash and bigger capacity memory card support. Other than that, it's just a smartphone, so if mr. arr 1214 wants a more PDA sort of handset, then he should buy a P900... But we dunno EXACTLY what your needs are.

The Sendo X has 64 bit polyphony and a dedicated graphics processor (GraphiX) as well.

It's as if we'd consider a 128 color monitor better than a 32 bit one. 99,9% of the tones on net are less than 14 voice polyphonic. P900 also has a "dedicated graphics processor" if we're talking about hardware dual processors at least...

What about the cost factor??? The X is definitely cheaper than the P900 and even the P800.

Wow the Sendo X is a very impressive phone. I think if I could purchase it here I would. No touch screen, but the size of the phone and the SD-card expansion would make me happy enough to forget that.
My biggest problem right now is that I have to purchase before Jan 1st to go into this years budget, and neither the P900 or Sendo X is in the states. I can get the P900 on Ebay assuming it's unlocked, but I don't see the Sendo X anywhere. Plus I know 2004 is going to be a great year for smartphones and PDA phones. Oh well, whatever I buy will be outdated in 6-months anyways!
I might just end up going with a cheaper phone like the Motorola Smartphone or the Samsung v206 and then get something better mid-2004 that fits my criteria a little better. Thanks for all the comments- any other suggestions appreciated too
