My phone is the Nokia 5320XM and for my unlimited messaging plan, there is an access point in the phone named "AT&T MMS" for multimedia messages.
I was using N-Gage and downloaded a couple of demos and used 12MB of data. It was supposed to use an access point (named "BT") I set up using an application called "Hiisi", which uses bluetooth to leech off of my computer's high speed connection.
I've used my BT access point several times without any problems but for some reason, when I was downloading some N-Gage demos, N-Gage switched access points without me knowing and used the AT&T MMS access point.
It is logged in my phone that I used about 12MB of data during the downloads and used AT&T MMS access point to do so. I logged into our AT&T wireless account and it is showing the data that N-Gage used but it is being listed as MediaNet pay-per-use.
Keep in mind, I do have unlimited messaging which includes unlimited multimedia messages (which uses the AT&T MMS access point).
Will we actually be charged for that data used? Technically, since it accessed AT&T MMS the same way a multimedia message would, its just an over-sized multimedia message, right?
Also, please correct me if I'm wrong but, 12MB of pay-per-use data comes out to be around $120, right? If so, I really need to know if this incident can be disputed because that is ridiculous for only 5 minutes of use.
