Hi, this is my first post. It looks like you guys have a pretty good community going on here.
My wife just got a Motorola W322 Renew phone. It's the new one that claims to be carbon neutral. I've been trying to get it to talk to Phone Tools but can't make it work. From searching the forums, I've figured out that the problem is that MPT doesn't officially support the phone yet and so there's no entry for it in the detect.inf file. So I copied the entry for the W360, for no better reason than it starts with W and looks a bit like the renew.
Unfortunately, it's still giving me the error that my phone is not detected and I should check for updates. I'm guessing that the problem is that I need to do more than just copy the entry for the closest looking phone and change some of the parameters maybe?
Does anybody have any insight into how to hack an entry into detect.ini? If I figure it out, I'll write a how to.
Regards and thanks in advance for any help and advice.

You're ahead of me on the detect.ini thing, but my guess is that MPT will have to update itself with that phone's drivers in order for it ti connect. It does take a while, but they eventually get around to updating MPT, which will then update itself. Plus you can manually check for updates for MPT, too.
Good luck, Geri O

According to the Motorola support forums, they're never going to provide support for the Renew to work with MPT.
Since it was and still is advertised as being able to sync with outlook, I guess Motorola are in the bait and switch business.
I haven't figured out how to hack it yet. I know that some people have done similar with at least one of the RAZR models that Motorola pulled the same trick with.

Do your live update first then go to set up --=> communication--> modem xchange-->choose motorola--> now on your left sahould have a window list GSM, CDMA. choose the right system for your fone. By now on your right should listed all the models that it curently support and have drivers for.
If you don't see your model there then you have to wait till next update or you may have a version of MPT that won't allow you to get any futher update.
That case you need to find the newest version available.
I have not keep up with it for so long cause i don't have the need to do so. Everything i need to do to the fone is thru other software

If Motorola won't provide a driver for it, check the websites for "CellSync" or "SyncCell" (I can NEVER remember which one it actually is) or another program called "MobilEdit". I'll bet they will offer drivers for their sync programs. There are a couple of others, too. You're not limited to just MPT.
