icon_mad.gif well i am from new york . and i have a samsung memoir form t-mobile. and last month i went to spain. and before i left to spain i went to a t-mobile store and activated international roaming on my phone. and everything at da store went smooth the lady did some things on da computer and she said everything was ready. that my phone was ready to use in europe. i was aware of the roaming charges. i know that its $1.99 the minute. so yea to make things fast once i get to barcelona spain i turn on my phone after a loooong flight. and i get 5 bars of 3G signal on vodafone spain. and i want to know if they charged me more cause i was 3G roaming. ? cause i traveled trough out all of spain and some parts of portugal and my phone did not switch to edge not once. even on portugal i had a strong 3G signal. and calls and text and picture messaging and the internet worked at fast 3G speeds everything worked perfect just like if i was in the states. so did they charged me more cause i was on 3G the whole time? cause i berly got my bill yesterday and it was of $1,234 dollars. . and im thinking it was prolly cause i was on 3G the whole time . o also i noticed that the 3G coverage in europe is waaay better than in the usa. cause in new york theres a lot of places were my phone switches to edge or even gsm. and on spain and portugal it was 3G da whole time i never got edge or gsm. . ok thanks. i would really appreciate it.

You are not charged more for 3g, that is just how expensivve it is to use the internet while roaming in another country.

It's $1.99 a minute for making voice calls. It's $15 a MB for any data/internet you access while in Spain! I hope you didn't have "see pictures" activated on your browser!

Always check your bill the first day you use the phone internationally to see if you're being charged for something you're not expecting - preferably via a local wi-fi connection and not using your phone. I made the mistake of thinking making a wi-fi call on the free internet in my hotel in Ireland wouldn't cost me anything vs. roaming on O2, and I stopped doing it when I checked my bill via netbook later that day and saw I was still being charged something extra for the call.

could be a few things, 1. you were not on a t-mobile roaming partner while in that country (sounds unlikely in this situation) 2. you got the int roaming put on less than 48 hours prior to leaving for said country (normally it doesn't take 48 hours for data to provision but I have seen it take that long once or twice) also we can use a little nifty tool to push the international provisioning immediately though I'm not sure if this store had that kind of access or not.

could also be what they said up there ^^, if you were browsing the web, downloading through your browser blah blah. $15 per MB can get expensive real fast, unless you are going to Canada, then it's only $10 per mb!, heh still expensive icon_razz.gif
