icon_question.gif I just purchased usb data cable for T300 phone. I wanted to use it to connect it to internet. Is this possible? Where can I get modem or manager software to do this? Usb cable comes with driver cd but not a modem or internet manager software. SonyErricson website has modem software but it is for IR port of the phone, would this work with usb cable? Any suggestion...
thanks

Hello Kapur,You might want to look at this :

Quote:
"The USB Cable DCU-11 is an ideal link between your mobile phone and PC. The user friendly USB standard and the high data transfer speed, makes the USB cable a perfect tool for moving data between your phone and a PC, for example when synchronising your phone book and calendar. If your phone has a built-in modem, you can use the cable to connect to the Internet via your mobile phone (if your mobile phone has a built-in modem, Internet Access not possible with the T300), making Web and e-mail access possible from virtually any location. The USB cable also features a charger port, that lets you charge the phone while the cable is in use, ensuring that you do not run out of power. "

The link is http://www.expansys.com/regproduct.asp?code=DCU-11

Therefore I think the best bet is to ditch the cable and go for an USB link.

So I need to get usb to irda for my notebook since my notebook does not have irda port. Then I should be able to use T300 as modem and can use to access the internet?

Or else change your phone and go in for the Z600/T630 which allow net surfing through Bluetooth which is faster than IrDA. icon_smile.gif

OK. And one more thing - if you are running Win Xp on your PC there is usually no need to use the installation CD that ships with the IRda device as native support is built in. Just plug it in,activate IR on your mobile and line the devices up,and you will get a pop-up saying "another computer(T300)detected within range".Then run the dial up configurator frm the SE site and install the phone as a modem with the drivers for T3XX series phones. icon_smile.gif
