I have been a customer of verizon wireless for over 8 years. I have one of the original 20 dollar a month with 150 anytime minutes plans with the 'new every two' option. I have renewed every 2 years since 2001. A couple of weeks ago I tried to upgrade to the LG Env Touch since I now have the LG Env, but was instructed on the web site that my plan does not support the phone, which is strange because earlier this year my plan did support the Env Touch. After complaining to Verizon to no avail I tried to upgrade to a different phone, about a week later, and lo and behold my plan does not include 'new every two', Verizon change the original terms of my contract. Phones that I was eligible for just a few days ago are no longer part of my plan. Verizon wireless is trying to pull the rug from under my 20 dollar plan in order to get me to change to one of their higher plans, which start at 39.99, this is corporate greed plain and simple. It does not pay to be to a company because they are not going to be loyal to the customer. Has anyone else experience this or something similar from Verizon?

There are plans lower than the $39.99 that you are likely eligible for. And if you truly had an older plan then the enV Touch would not have been available for you I assure you. Regardless of what some one said to you, the system catches these things and wouldn't allow the upgrade without the plan change with it. If you really want a more data-oriented phone then pay for the data, or get a device that doesn't require you change your plan. And it isn't corporate greed, it is a company being smart and changing with the times. Keeping dusty old plans around forever doesn't profit and thus doesn't provide growth so the company can keep providing better service for you, the customer. Sometimes these changes fit a customer seamlessly, and sometimes people want a phone that has requirements they dislike. Can't please everyone. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't one of the better ones, hopefully VZW helps find you a device and plan that suits you best.

Vzw least expensive plan is $39.99 unless you are over the age of 65. I have an LG Env, which is just as capable as the Env Touch. I could have upgraded when I first became eligible in July. Data services are included with my 'old' plan or I could add services or pay per use. Vzw eliminated new every two from my plan in order to push a higher plan. There's no logical supply and demand reason to set the price on these plans or services. They are trying to ultra-maximize profit margins. Don't be naive, this is blatant corporate greed. There is no such thing as 'better service' when it comes to cell phone companies. Wake up and thanks for your input. You sound like you work for the phone company.

OP I have a simular situation. In Dec 2007 I renewed my contract and added Family Share plan. At the time I was eligable for NET at 100.00. When I renewed I renewed at the 99.00 family shar plan unlimited. (before family I only had the 39.99 plan) After 11 months I decided the 99.00 plan was to much plan for me and my son.so I switched to the 69.00 plan and added 10.00 texting for him and 5.00 texting for me. Seems that when I did this Verizon said I no longer qualify for 100.00 NET but instead I only qualify for 50.00 NET. VZ does not take in account your total bill but yet just the base. I did save money overall but man I wish they would have told me this up front.

The other thing I cannot stand about their Greed is that me and my son do not use 700 minutes a month. In fact we use about 300 a month. I know we are not the norm.but I really wish I could eliminate the NET and get a reduced plan. Seems like a waste of money to spend 90 bucks on 700 minutes when I use only 300 to 350.

I bet $30 out of that $90 you pay is for your unlimited messaging. $60 of it is for the 700 minutes. And there is a plan $10 less for fewer minutes, look online for it. And yes, things change. Welcome to the 21st century
