I have a Samsung A737 slider phone w/ AT&T service (so it's unlocked) that I've had for several months. It has a micro SD card and I have the USB cable for it. I have Bluetooth disabled and the phone is set for Mass Storage, which basically treats the SD card like a flash drive -- it should just be plug-n-play, just like plugging a flash drive into a USB port. Up until a few days ago, I've never had any trouble transferring MP3s and pix between the phone and the computer thru the USB cable.
Now when I plug in the USB cable, the phone beeps and displays "CONNECTED" on the screen. And it indicates that the battery is charging as well. But the computer doesn't recognize that the phone is connected. I tried turning the phone on and off, and removing and reinserting the SD card. I also tried another computer. But none of that makes any difference. Ideas?
I also thought that maybe the SD card was corrupted and needed to be reformatted or something. But my gf has a similar phone, so I put my SD card in her phone and it worked fine -- I was able to copy all of my pix to the computer. So it looks like the problem is w/ the phone itself.

Well I looked at this some more and it turns out that the socket on my phone where the charger and USB cable plug in is cracked. So the cable isn't making good contact and that appears to be the cause of the problem. I'm gonna try to bend the outside metal edge of the socket in towards the center to hold the plug more securely, and then maybe wedge a piece of paper or something between the outside of the socket and the phone case to hold the outside of the socket in place.
