Our 2 year AT&T contract is over - 3 lines - voice only.

The AT&T signal is strong and reliable in our area, so we will stay with that carrier.

Also, we will renew with the same family plan as the current one, but all 3 lines need phone upgrades, and we intend to add messaging and data features to this plan.

Once we upgrade, we plan to discontinue our home phone. Therefore, we must have dependable cell phones if we're to replace the land line.

-------------

For 2 lines, we want to upgrade to mid-level touch screen phones. These phones would be primarily for personal use - no PDA or Smart Phone capabilities would be necessary.

We need voice, messaging, and data capabilities in a reliable mid-level phone. We've looked online, and we really like Samsung's touch screen phones.

Suggestions on these or any others would certainly help us narrow down our options.

-------------

The 3rd line is a bit tricky. This line is for my elderly mother-in-law who has done extremely well with her current cell phone (Samsung X427M). This phone is really old, but it's been dependable, and it's simple to use.

We're looking for suggestions for something comparable to her old Samsung - ease of use, bright screen, and good volume.

The best we have seen online is the Pantech Breeze which is recommended for senior citizens and is similar to her current Samsung.

However, she has mentioned how impressed she was with her friend's touch screen phone and how easy it was to use - easier than her current Samsung, she told us.

This makes perfect sense that a touch screen would be easy to use for a senior citizen - large icons, no dual function buttons, etc.

So, we're wondering if there is a touch screen phone that would serve her purposes. Most we've seen are pretty much overkill for her use - she makes only a few calls a month and has no use for any messaging/data features.

Any suggestions for a touch screen phone without a lot of extras would be very appreciated.

-------------

That's it - we're looking for recommendations for a mid-level touch screen phone and a no frills touch screen phone with AT&T.

Thanks

do your upgrade from the website.some people like to use customer reviews. Xenon is a good choice.your rate plan.call customer care and have them check your needs.usually I find if you double the minutes in your rate plan (unless you have a ton of rollover) that is the general baseline

Thanks for the suggestions on our phones upgrades.

Is it preferable, I wonder, to use the AT&T web site / calling customer care rather than going into the local AT&T store?

We do need to see some phones first hand, and we plan to visit the store for this. However, if we can get a better deal online, we'll certainly do that.

As to roll over minutes accumulated at the end of our current plan - it's some ridiculous figure around 2,500 we never used. So, upgrading the plan wouldn't be an option.

As to the Xenon, we will check it out.

Thanks again.

generally the price is a little better at the website vs the store or customer care. personally I would wait until the monday after thanksgiving to do the upgrade that is the traditional start of the xmas sales.

elmo01 - thanks!

I didn't realize there would be any sort of sale during the holidays, so thanks for the heads up on that.

This will give us plenty of time to get to the AT&T store to look at phones between now and the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Once we get a face-to-face with the phones, we'll get online and see what kind of deal we can get.

Again, your comments and suggestions are appreciated.
