Bought razr v3 unlocked. It keeps lossing signal ?

I bought a used unlocked razr v3 off e-bay. I'm on at&t w/sim card. I put the sim card in and after a few minutes the phone screen turns white like the phone is restarting and then back to normal with all the displays but I have no signal the at&t is gone from the screen and my address book won't work. I'm still using the old Cingular card 64K is written on it. I still have my old at&t phone and the sim card work's fine in it. But it will not work right in the razr I bought. I was told to upgrade my sim to a new one from the person I bought the phone from but will that make a difference or is the phone messed up. I don't want to spend more money if there's something wrong with the phone. Please help.

first thing I would do is press *#06# copy down the IMEI and then call 611. an update will be sent to your phone. if that dont do anything its the phone
