My friend lost his lg venus and received a new phone through verizon insurance. about two months later he found the found under his car seat and gave it to me. when i tried activating it they told me it was under the stolen/lost category. is there any way i can somehow activate this phone considering i have the original owners permission?

Negative. Asurion locks the phone that they are replacing. I doubt they will unlock the device.
