[1] Problems, Errors and Game FAQ
==========================================
[1.1] How to transfer Games to your T610? There are 4 possibilities:
----------------------------------------
[1.1.1] USB Cable
First download the progam SendFile. Then close all applications that are related to the T610 (Outlook, FMA, Phone Suite, etc...). Make sure there is no telephone symbol in the task bar (close it if there is one). Start Sendfile and wait to get connected to your T610 (it connects automatically and could last a minute). Press select, and then the file(s) of the game you want to transfer. Press "send"; Done!
[1.1.2] Bluetooth
Make sure the BT opton of the T610 is enabled. Then just copy it straight over to the public folder by drag and drop - or right click and use the send to option.
If you have trouble config your BT, dl this instruction. It shows you step-by-step how to properly install your BT on your PC. You need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to read this!
[1.1.3] WAP
Open a link with the wap browser. Click the link and select "save file". Its possible to upload files to once own wap site, but thats complicated. But maybe this thread helps.
[1.1.4] Infra Red Dongle
Make sure the T610 is connected with the PC. (remember to enable the IR option of the T610!). Then, like BT, right click and use the send to option
[1.1.5] Important info, how to transfer the 2 types of games:
Mophun Games: Select all .mpn files and transfer them to your phone! e.g.: you have 1_2 game.mpn and 2_2 game.mpn send both or if it's 3 then 3 and so on. It only works when all files are on the phone! Then it automatically joins these files and you can play the game!
Java Games: you only need to transfer the .jar file.
Important: Don't extract the .jar! It maybe looks like a normal archieve (in fact it is), but the phone will extract and handle it itself! Always transfer the .jar, not the extracted files from the .jar!
For T610, the jad file has no use!
[1.2] Errors
----------------------------------------
[1.2.1] The "GAME EXPIRED" Error
-->[DELETED]<--
Dont ask about this issue in this forum! Mophun Companies dont like to see that question... but maybe pm do the trick...
[1.2.2] The "TERMINAL NOT SUPPORTED" Error
That only means that this Mophun game is not supported by your Phone. In most cases its for the T3xx. You cant do anything to get it work! Sometimes there are 2 versions of a Mophun game and sometimes T3xx Mophun games work on the T610 too (BUT: small screen, speed is too high...). Discuss this issue here.
[1.2.3] The "Invalid Application" Error
This error can occur when you start a java game. This just means that the game is inappropriate for the T610 or the file is broken. There is not much you can do to get the game work. You can just hope that a newer firmware will be released wich may fix some things so that it works, but thats unrealistic, in most cases.
It could also be that you try to download it via WAP from a server that is not correctly setup.
Discuss this issue here.
[1.3] .jar, .jad, .mpn, .rar ???? Info on the different types of file extension.
----------------------------------------
The extension .mpn indicates that this file is a Mophun Game. Its common that one game is split up into 2 or more pieces (e.g.: 1_3game.mpn, 2_3game.mpn and 3_3game.mpn). It will only work if you transfer them all. (after the last pieces is treansfered, a msg pops up that says "new game saved" or smth like that)
The extension .jar indicates that this game is written in java (actually J2ME). A .jar is a normal archieve that can be opened with e.g. WinRAR. But if you want to install a Java game on your T610 you must not decompress the .jar! Instead just transfer it! After it is transfered succesfully, a msg pops up that says smth like " a new game saved in blablablba"). Its "very" common that after a java game was transfered, a error msg. pops up. In this case the T610 deletes the game automatically. And dont be suprised that java games run very slow and/or errors occur and/or the game chrashes. Its because of the poor J2ME Support of the T610. Always keep your firmware up to date! Newer firmware will make better support/performance with java games!
At least .jad. Dont mind them. These files are useless with the use of the T610. Only if you have a nokia phone like 7210, you must have the .jad file to install java games onto the phone. There is one line in the jad file indicating game name, icon and main class, eg.:
MIDlet-1: Name, icon.png, package.MainClass
If the jad file is missing, the icon information is gone and you won't see the game icon on your nokia phone.
ADDED: .rar - basically this has nothing to do with T610 games. A .rar - file is a very common compression format like .zip or .ace. You need WinRAR 3 to decompress it. Dont confuse this with a .jar! This is a archive too, but you must not decompress it (the .jar). The T610 wont accept .rar.
[1.4] Games FAQ
----------------------------------------
[1.4.1] General Concerns
Q.What games are available for the T61x?
A.Java and Mophun games.
Q.I have heard that the speed of a java game depends on the firmware. How can I check my phone's fimrware
A.How to see firmware - see here. If it is lower than R3Cxx then its old (like R1A or R1L or R3A).
Q.I can't quit the game!!
A.Try pressing and holding the "return" button for some secs. Or if that doesn't work, try restarting your phone with the power button or with removing the battery.
[1.4.2] Mophun Concerns
Q.What is Mophun? (file extension .mpn)
A.Mophun is described by its creators (Synergenix) as a "software-based videogame console". Its java based, but has ability of much higher performance ( than J2ME). But Mophun has not spread this wide like java games. (Only some SE and a few Nokia mobiles can handle Mophun games) There are no freeware Mophun games - every programmer has to send the source code to Synergix and they compile and distribute it. For more info see this article on midlet-review.com.
Q.Where can I see what Mophun games are available?
A.Check www.mophun.com.
Q.Where can I get Mophun games?
A.You can buy them at www.mophungames.com
Q.Are there Mophun demos to test a game before buying? Where can I get them?
A.Yep, Mophun demos are available. You can dl a package of 51 Mophun Demos here (thx 2 prawnfinger). Or you can test most of them online on url=http://www.mophun.com/main_games.php?mode=previewgameidea&sid=a092 561b9439bbdfc3bcfe0cac608f4e]www.mophun.com[/url].
Q.I'm starting a mophun game and get the Error message "Game expired". What does this mean?
A.This normally happens if you have a backup of a mophun game on your pc = you didn't get from WAP. Dont ask about this issue in this forum! Mophun Companies dont like to see that question... but maybe pm do the trick...
Q.I'm getting a Error that says "TERMINAL NOT SUPPORTED" when Im starting a mophun game. What does this mean?
A.Your playing the T3xx version of the game. Get the T6xx version! Also see point [1.2] "Errors".
Q.When I play a certain Mophun game, it just covers 1/3 of the whole screen and/or it runs much too fast! Why?
A.Thats because you're playing a T3xx Mophun game on the T6xx! (Nearly) Every Mophun games is availabe in 2 versions. One for the T6xx and one for the T3xx. If you want to play fullscreen, have to get the T6xx version
Q.Are there Mophun Emulators to test a Mophun game on the pc?
A.Yes - you can test the games on www.mophun.com, or you can dl the emulator here from this site. But many ppl complain that the didn't get it work! (me neither!) Discuss this issue here.
[1.4.3] Java Concerns
Q.What is J2ME ? (file extension .jar)
A.Short form for "Java 2 Micro Edition": a cross-platform language capable of working in devices with highly reduced capabilities. Most java games are written in J2ME.
Q.Where can I get java games?
A.Check out the links below.
Q.Can I program my own J2ME games?
A.Yes; you will need some knowledge about java programming language - see this site for mor details on programming J2Me on the T610 or check sonyericsson.com developers section.
Q.What is MIDP?
A.Short form for "Mobile Information Device Profile": specifications for Java language for mobile devices. Check java.sun.com for more details. The T6xx and most other java enabled mobiles support MIDP 1.0.
Q.What is MIDP 2.0?
A.MIDP 2.0 is a revised version of the MIDP 1.0 specification, and includes new features such as an enhanced user interface, multimedia and game functionality, greater connectivity, over-the-air (OTA) provisioning, and end-to-end security. MIDP 2.0 is backward compatible with MIDP 1.0, and continues to target mobile information devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. The T61x/T630/Z600 can not handle MIDP 2.0 java applications! Only high-end smartphones have MIDP 2.0 support, such as SE P900 or Nokia 6600.
Q.Why are Java games running so slow on my T61x?
A.Because the java support of T6xx phones is very bad! SE didnt really stick to the specifications java.sun had given! Updating firmware may helps if you got an old one. Everybody with firmware R3Cxxx, just can wait until SE publishes a new one! How to see firmware see here.
Q.Are there jave emulators, so that i can test a java game on the pc?
A.Yes - go to www.sonyericsson.com, click developer world, search for j2me, click the "more" below "Updated Sony Ericsson J2ME SDK for MIDP 1.0", download the sdk. install it and your .jad file will be associated with the emulator. Double clicking a .jad will run the game in emulator. You should be able to play the game if it's T610 compatible. Discuss this issue here
[1.4.4] Download/Transfer Concerns
Q.I can't download java games from this site!! Links doesn't work!!
A.Try right click + "save as".
Q.I downloaded a java games, but it has the extension .rar. What now?
A.A .rar - file is a very common compression format like .zip or .ace. You need WinRAR 3 to decompress it. Dont confuse this with a .jar! This is a archive too, but you must not decompress it (the .jar). The T610 wont accept .rar.
Q.Can I transfer a game from PC to my phone?
A.Yes you can. With USB cable, BT and Irda. For more details see point [1.1] "How to transfer Games to your T610" on this page.
Q.Can I transfer a game from phone to phone respectively phone to pc?
A.No, thats not possible. You can make no backup, so remember this if you want to make a master reset!
Q.I have USB cable. How can I transfer games to my phone?
A.You need the tool SendFile. Also see: "[1.1] How to transfer Games to your T610?".
Q.I have Bluetooth/Ir. How can I transfer games to my phone?
A.If you have set up your BT right, you can right-click on the file and choose "send to" and then your phone. If you have problem config. your BT, dl this instruction. (also see point 1.1 of this page)
Q.I transfered a game but it didn't show up on the game menu? How can i delete it so that it doesn' take up my free space?
A.The files of a Corrupted file transfer will be deleted after you restart the phone!
[1.5] Cheats, Tips Tricks
----------------------------------------
Bombjack
Platform: Mophun
Start a game and play until you die. Then while the phone vibrates (if you set this option) press and hold IMMEDIATLY the "return" button until you exit the game. Now you are on the main screen. Start the game again and choose "resume". You will notice that you haven't lost a life and that you are in the next level! Its a little annoying because the game needs about a minute to start, but you can get to every level!
Minigolf
Platform: Mophun
If you feel that you've made a bad shot, before the ball stops, just press the "Return" button and leave it pressed until the game exits. When you call on to play the game again, at resume game, you will find that you are back in the beginning of the bad shot you made that you did not want to be recorded.
Bone Idol
Platform: Mophun
Level Unlock:
Enter 31 07 71 to unlock all 20 levels.
QSoccer
Platform: Mophun
General Tips:
The game starts in EASY mode and with AUTO controls.
AUTO control is designed to let you concentrate on shooting, passing and tackling. The CPU will move your selected player toward the opposing team's goal if you are attacking, or toward the ball if you are defending. Pressing FIRE will tackle if you are defending or shoot/pass if you are attacking. The longer you press the FIRE button for the stronger the shot, tackle or pass will be.
You can override the CPU's control of your player by using the LEFT/RIGHT keys to change rotation. Once you stop pressing LEFT or RIGHT the CPU will resume control.
The easiest way to play is to let the CPU do most of the work and to intervene only to 'shimmy' past an opponent with a quick LEFT/RIGHT combo or to fire a diagonal ball into the penalty box for one of your team mates to run onto.
If you are attacking you can outpace the opposing defenders by pressing FIRE quickly to kick the ball a small distance up field for you to run onto. However, just like real football the best way to avoid being tackled is to pass the ball to a team mate.
When you get near goal you can score more easily by shooting diagonally across the goal keeper or, from outside the penalty area, by lobbing the goal keeper with a long press on the FIRE key.
Once you lose posession concentrate on tackling the opposing player with repeated presses of the FIRE key. Don't bother trying to steer your defenders - the CPU will do a much better job for you!
If you have any tips or tricks of your own then please send them to us via the Feedback page.

Miki's World
Platform: Java
Bonus Game:
To activate the bonus game without collecting all coins you have to type 77 77 33 22 27 77 33 8 (=> 'secret') during the game.
Prince of Persia
Platform: Java
Level selection:
On the mainpage open the menu and press these keys: 25 84 6. If things are ok, the menu closes. Open it again and select 'New Game'. Then press quickly the number of the level you want to enter.
Turtles
Platform: Java
Turtles do not dive for food:
In the game press 1 1 1 1 1 to bar the turles from diving.
Dragon Island

Difference between T610 and T616
T616 is the North-American specific version of the T610. The T610 works on 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands, of which only the 1900MHz band is used in the US. On the other hand, the T616 uses the 850, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands. Thus the usability of the T616 outside North america is limited to places that utilize the 1800 MHz band.
What is 'firmware', and where do I find out what firmware my phone uses?
Firmware is the software that allows your phone to function, acting as an interpreter between you and your phone's hardware. It is very much like a computer's operating system. It is periodically updated, as flaws are fixed or as functions are upgraded.
You can check your phone's firmware by the following key sequence(where < means push the joystick to the left; > to the right, and * means press the * key):
>*<<*<*
This gets you to the 'Service Menu'. Pick SW information to see your phone's firmware. My T616's firmware, for example, is R1A054.
Why does my phones signal strength meter fluctuate wildly?
That is what SE phone signal strength meters do. Later firmware upgrades to the T610 and T616 usually fix that problem
Why does my T610/6 show only one/two bars where my Nokia/Siemens/Motorola shows 3 or 4?
SE phones usually show a smaller number of bars than other brands. That does not necessarily indicate a poorer performance of the phone. This is just a representation of the 'strength' of the signal, kind of like a gas-gauge in a car; if it the needle has moved 4/5ths of the way, doesn't mean that you have only 4/5ths of a full tank left.
The T616 will perform very well when the bar shows 1 bar; by contrast in other phones that I have had, having one bar meant I was in deep doo-doo. SE proponents will say that other phone brands artificially inflate their signal strength meters. While the T616 does not have the best reception, it is at least equal in my personal experience to Nokia 6800 and Nokia 6200. I live in a poor signal strength area, and have 3 T616's.
What is a locked or unlocked phone? How do I know whether my phone is locked or not?
A locked phone is usually 'locked' to a single wireless provider. GSM phones use 'SIM' cards which hold your account info, and a locked phone will accept SIM cards only from one carrier.
Phones can either be purchased 'unlocked' from sellers or straight from the manufacturer, you can unlock them by entering an unlock code (from some carriers, for example), or pay people to have them unlocked. (You can do it yourself, too, but it is not that easy).
You can check the lock status of your phone by accessing the 'Service Menu' as above, and picking the SIMlock submenu. If the symbol next to 'Network' is locked, then your phone is locked. The number next to the lock represents the number of tries available to you to punch in an unlock code.
Where do I find the date of manufacture of my phone?
Remove the battery. Under that, you will find the SE label. On the bottom right of that label, you will find a number like '03W32', which means year(03) and week(W32) of manufacture.
What software do I need to transfer files to my pc, or to synchronize/backup my phone to my pc?
Files can be transferred using cable (USB or RS232); Infrared port ; Bluetooth connector. You will need the first two of the things listed below; the rest are optional
1. Mobile phone monitor (www.sonyericsson.com)
2. XTNDconnect (comes with phone; lets you sync your phone to Outlook, and lets you use your phone as a data modem for your PC or PDA)
3. Float's mobile agent (edit contacts, send SMS, monitor phone, originate calls https://sourceforge.net/projects/fma/)
4. SendFile (transfer files to phone): http://www.christersson.org/software.php
5. PhoneBackup (backup contacts, settings, calendar, SMS): http://www.christersson.org/software.php
6. PC control (control PC from phone): http://www.christersson.org/software.php
How do I set up speed dial
Transfer contacts to SIM. Arrange the positions on the SIM in the order you want. From standby, punch in the location of the contact you want (for example, put 'J. Doe' in location 2. Then press 2, and press 'Call')
How do I insert a pause in my dialing sequence, for example, to add your PIN code when you call your voicemail
Press and hold the '7' key at the place you want to insert the pause.
What is Video Caller ID
If you associate a picture with a contact, and that contact calls, the picture will show up on the display. Similarly, if you add a voice tag to your contact, the voice tag will be played out when the contact calls.
How do I know when my phone is done charging?
If you are charging with the phone off, the little light in the joystick will go off. If the phone is on, the battery status bar will stop moving when the phone is fully charged.
What is bluetooth
Bluetooth (BT) is a short-wave standard for radio communication. It operates in the 2.4 GHz band, is relatively noise-free, and works in a range of about 10 m (33 feet). The T616 can talk to PC's or other phones which 'have' BT. You can use a 'bluetooth' headset to talk while your phone is 10 m away (in your glovebox, backpack, purse, or home window (the only place in my home where I get good reception)). You can also use your BT phone to send messages to unsuspecting suckers who have their BT turned on in their phone/PDA/PC...however, you cannot browse their folders or access data unless they specifically allow you to do so...using BT headsets and voice-dialing, voice-commands and voice caller ID, I can pretty much go the whole day without actually looking at my phone or touching it (which is actually a pity, considering that this is, in my opinion, the best looking phone I have seen. And yes, I do not like the flashy multi-hued monstrosities that rule the day )
Other tips
-when the display is dark, you can get just the clock to illuminate by pressing one of the volume control keys on the left side of the phone
-the left joystick motion (from standby) leads to the first command located in the 'My shortcuts' list, and can be customized
-from standby, you can go directly to the contact list by pressing a key corresponding to the first letter in the name of your contact, and keeping it pressed (i.e., pressing 5 will open the contact list at 'J')
-you can get the phone to switch profiles automatically (e.g. change to meeting profile) if that meeting is scheduled in your calendar: just change the 'Profile Switch' to Auto in your calendar's 'options' submenu
-from most places/programs, pressing the 'Back' key and keeping it pressed will take you back to standby.
-in camera mode, you can (1) toggle the picture size by pressing 1, (2) toggle 'night' mode by pressing 2, (3) change change brightness ('exposure') by moving the joystick up or down, (3)cycle between effect by pressing 3, (4) toggle between self-timer off/on by pressing 4, (5) adjust exposure/brightness by moving the joystick up/down, (6) adjust color saturation by moving the joystick left/right
-you can add text labels to your pictures or add lines or simple geometric shapes to the smaller sized pictures by going into 'edit' mode while looking at pics in your 'My Pictures' folder
-you can access your phone number and other information by pressing the volume keys on the side of the phone while phone is in standby
-if you need to refer to something frequently (shopping list?), you can write up a note, and 'post' it. This will essentially make it your background in standby mode, and you can see it from standby and during calls etc.
-no, there is no point to the 'colorbug' game (I think) other than showing you how clustering programs work
-you can attatch a carrying strap to the phone by opening the battery compartment, and hanging the strap through the hole in the bottom shaped like a ' [ ' turned sideways.

Whoah, think you've solved most of my problems lad! This'll go Sticky if you don't mind, coz this is real useful... You could even make this topic more complete by (it's not a must, just an advice of corz) looking thru all the topics where people are asking something. And write out the most common questions that are missing from this 'Newbie Database' here.

Great effort safysaeed and all Thanks a lot !!!!
May be you can carry out same thing about GPRS connectivity issue.
I do have same question .. When i connect using T68I .. it says compression of data is 0%. This decreases the speed. How can i enable the compression?
I am also looking for some dedicated sites for T68I.
Thanx !!!!

If you have any of the latest PDA's having Bluetooth, you can transfer stuff directly from the PDA to the phone without the need for a PC.
Yes, you can use your PDA to access the net using the T616 using the proper modem scripts. However, I am not too sure whether all PDA's support this (especially Palm).
