Hi all, complete newbie here, so I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me why my Sony Ericsson T610 wont let me send MMS, it says sending, the globe icon appears at the top of screen and it appears to be sending fine, but suddenly it comes up with user barred, I've got to say I'm frustrated that I cant seem to find out how to solve this problem so I wondered if anyone else has experience similar difficulties, I am on O2 pay monthly does anybody know a solution?
thank you so much in advance if you can help

i recently bought a z600 (a truely sweet phone) its basically the t610 with a better screen and cooler layout. i had the same problem with mms - user barred. im on the o2 online pay as you go tariff (each time i top up i get 300 free texts and free wap, tho i have no obligation to pay each month, its great) anyway, i tried sending al the different types of settings and stuff from the o2 website, and it still would work. so i emailed o2, and they emailed back. i quote
"With regards to your enquiry, I am sorry to learn that you are unable to send media messages despite having downloaded the settings to your mobile phone.
I note from our systems that the facility has not yet been added
to your services. I have today enabled the media messaging
service and you should be able to use this within the next 24
hours."
and now it works. yey.
here are the instructions i was also given just to make sure i had the correct settings on my phone. should work on the t610 too.

Press the Back key twice
Select Messaging
Select Picture scroll to Options press select
Scroll to Validity period select highlight Maximum press Select
Scroll to Read report select highlight Off press Select
Scroll to Delivery report select highlight Off press Select
Ignore Restrict messages
Scroll to Content alert select highlight On press Select
Scroll to Message server select http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
press Select

Call customer services on 08702410202 or 08704443333 if you are on pay monthly and request that your account is enabled.
These numbers only apply to people who bought their phones from O2 shops, O2 direct, TOMO or The Link.

hi,
thank you all so much for your replies, I emailed the o2 with my problem hoping that they would tell me something along the lines of what they told tim_jedi but this is what I got (baring in mind they knew my mobile number so they must have had access to information on my tariff)
"To use the MMS services you will need to have a tariff change on
your account. This change will consist of your tariff being
moved to an equivalent tariff. This will not affect the monthly
line rental or the free call, SMS and WAP services you are
receiving at present. Although your GPRS bundle will be reduced
to 0.5Mb on certain tariffs.
We need to advice you of the tariff change as we are unable to
do this with out your consent.
If you do agree the tariff change will take place on your next
billing date."
I really dont understand why they've said this at all seeing as I only bought the phone a few months back, thanks for your help anyway I am baffled still

Hi people, I have a Sony Z600 as of today!
The first thing I found out that annoyed me was that my laptop has neither Bluetooth, nor Infra-Red, therefore at the moment I cannot connect with my phone.
The second thing was that although I have the O2 sim card which is pay as you go and gives you 300 free texts and 300 free WAP minutes, I am charged for all WAP!
The third thing is that I receive the "user barred" message when trying to send MMS (even after the long procedure described above).
There are 3 WAP profiles on my SIM card which are O2 WAP, O2 WAP GSM and O2 WAP GPRS. These have all been created or sent by O2 at some point, none have been manually created. O2 WAP GPRS is currently selected.
Does anyone have any idea why all my WAP calls are charged? And about the MMS?
Thanks
