Prologue
I figured out that it may help people in understanding what Java and Mophun are all about.
Why Mophun games are not free?
Mophun and SE are two different entities. SE does not own or have control over Mophun. Rather SE supports the Mophun platform. It's not SE's fault why games written in Mophun are not free. Don't ask SE what they have been doing. Mophun is a proprietary technology and every programmer has to send their source code to Synergix (the creators of Mophun) for compilation and distribution. From here comes the issue about royalties. I'm sorry. This is how the IT industry works. Not everyone knows how Mophun works. Not everyone can write Mophun games. These are the reasons why Mophun games are not free.
Business is business. If you think this is an outrage then I agree with you. That is why I don't have Mophun games on my T610.
Why most Java games are free?
Java (specifically Java 2 Micro Edition or J2ME) can be freely downloaded at the Sun Microsystems' website. Although Java is proprietary, being free is Sun's commitment to the Java platform. Even SE's J2ME SDK for MIDP 2.0 can be freely downloaded. Thus, anyone with the will can create, compile, and distribute Java games and applications without any of the prorietary and royalty issues described above. Java game programmers can freely decide whether their games are free or not.
Why do companies and programmers charge for their creations?
There is something called Intellectual Property. Companies and programmers spend a lot of time, money, and resources to create games and applications. It's a form of investment - just like stocks and other money-making instruments. They expect a Return of Investment (ROI) from their creations. Calling something free is the integrated decision of its creator.
Why Java games are slow?
Java games (and applications for that matter) are fundamentally slower compared to games written in specialized platforms (like Mophun) because Java is an interpreted language. This means that there is a mediator between the game itself and the operating system every time you play. This, of course, incurs overhead. On the other hand, software written in compiled languages (like C++) run faster because the executable is in native code which means that it can access operating system services without the need of a mediator.
Don't worry, there is always hope. Games and operating systems can be rewritten to implement more optimized constructs and algorithms that execute faster compared to normally written code. I bet that this was done in R3C002 and R3C004. This is most probably the reason why games in an upgraded T610 run faster compared to T610s running on older firmwares.
Why some Java games on the T610 are not full screen?
It's the programmer's decision whether their games are full screen or not. Don't blame SE. Take note that the SE distributed game DeepAbyss is a full screen game. It is incorrect to say that all Java games on the T610 are not full screen.
Does Nokia support Mophun?
Yes. As of this post, the 7650, 3650, and N-Gage can support the Mophun platform. It is incorrect to say that only SE phones support Mophun.
Is Sony Ericsson behind the mobile phone race?
I don't think so. Check out what the P800 or P900 can do. The T610 is a complex phone on its own.I'm pretty impressed.
T610 Java game support is poor?
I have to admit that Java game support on the T610 is not pretty good. However, upgrading to R3C002 or R3C004 will definitely solve some issues about speed and compatibility.
/* Take note that everything written below is totally my opinion. */
What are my reasons for choosing the T610?
I bought the T610 primarily for mobile communication purposes. The other cool features are just a plus to me. It's wrong to buy a mobile phone just to play games. There is a PS2, you know. Nokia tends to create toys instead of phones. Nokia phones are for housewives, students, and teenagers. With sleek curves, modern features, and aesthetic design, the T610 is definitely for serious businessmen and professionals.
Can I have everything?
Definitely not. Try my gadget guide instead.
If you want crystal clear quality pictures buy a SLR digital camera.
If you want to play games buy an X Box (or a PS2).
If you want applications you can take wherever you want buy a laptop.
If you want to communicate buy a mobile phone.

As far as I know there ar some Sharp phones that also have Mophun.
And SE also has his own games.
They're based on Mophun.
Just look at V-Rally2
This game is free (only pay for wapping to your phone) and isn't of Mophun!

@safysaeed
The firmware version of the T610 you are constantly referring to is quite outdated since the R4C003 version is out and the R6 version is on the horizon.

No we can't update the firmware unless Sony Ericsson give us the right tools for the job, just like Siemens phones

Sony Ericsson is looking at making firmware downloads on pc available for the P900, however we haven't heard anything at work about wether or not flash upgrades will be available for the T610. Upgrades like this do exist on the internet, the old Sony phones had quite a large community at www.syllas.com so it is worth asking there about flash upgrading.
