I've been looking ages for help and have decided to actually ask! I can transfer pics from T610 to laptop via IR but can't do other way! However, I can IR a pic from phone to laptop, then IR back to phone. Am I meant to do something special if the pic was not originally taken using the T610 camera? Am absolutely clueless.

I forgot to say, the pic I am trying to transfer (that was not taken using the phone's camera) does transfer but shows up like a cross on my phone, like the ones you sometimes get on webpages because the pic isn't shown?

I think you use way to high resolution pictures to send to your phone.
Try to crop it with SonyEricsson Image Editor (can be found on their website).
If it still doesn't work then just tell me

Hello! Thanks very much for tip! I have tried using photoshop to get it less than other pics on phone but still no joy. I could try Image Editor just in case. If I don't have success I will give up. Weirdly, my sister put a pic on with no probs! Although, I did manage to get the particular pic I wanted to IR to phone, but it was because I changed it to a gif first. Happy New Year!

Use photoshop and try to send a .gif file.
If that doesn't work send a .jpg file

The cross shows up in the thumbnail view section since the pictures (images) are larger in size than what the temporary memory in the T610 can handle. However, after a few seconds, the entire picture replaces te cross and you can view it in all it's glory. The same happens with my T310 whenever I send pics from my dad's P900.
