Hello, I am a new owner of a SE T616 and have some simple questions:
1) In order to transfer pics, themes, ringtones etc. from Laptop to the T616 (or vice versa), I need to have one of the following on my laptop:
Bluetooth (do the newer laptops usually have this?)
Infared
Correct??
2) If I have bluetooth or infared on the laptop, I still need to download the software that came with my phone in order to transfer pics, themes, ringtones etc. from Laptop to the T616 (or vice versa)? It will not work without the sofware installed?
Correct?
3) What is the difference of using bluetooth and Infared to tranfer/get/download items than that of WAP. Is WAP free?? How is it done?
??
Thanks in advance!

You can transfer ringtones/images/games/themes from your laptop to your T616 via IrDA (Infrared), BT (Bluetooth) or via cable. However, the last option is not recommended. Pls. read the sticky regarding hazards of buying a data cable in SE talk.
For your BT/IrDA module to work properly, you must install the correct device drivers/software drivers. It might work w/o the software support but why take the risk and waste time?
BT and IrDA are a means of transferring data to and from your laptop and cellphone. WAP is a technology used to access specially formatted data via WAP enabled cellphones which have a WAP compliant browser. WAP is generally not free since it is equivalent to surfing the net on your laptop using a dialup/cablenet connection. In some cases, a few operators provide free WAP access for a few days when you signup with them.

Thanks GForce.
One question that I hid in there is:
Are the newer laptops coming with BT? I am asking cuz I am getting a new laptop at work and was just wondering if this is the standard now a days?

Yes, most new laptops has Bluetooth built in.
But almost all laptops has IrDa and that's also not bad.
For IrDa you don't need any software if you have XP.

Okay. I now installed the sofware (I had to ask IS/IT for admin rights on my laptop)...
I have installed the software, but how do i get the mobile to "see" the laptop through infared (or vice versa)
The mobile always says no connection found. I have been playing around with it for over 2 hours!!
Please HELP!
As said, the sofware is already installed.

Hello all,
Please disregard!
I was at work today and asked one of my friends. It worked fine on his laptop. He than realized the problem.
Infared was disabled on my laptop!!! I enabled it and now it works like a charm!

BTW, just to remind everyone, you cannot browse the contents of your PC via IrDA. However, this is possible using BT.

I believe you can, but you need one of the below on your PC:
1) Data Cable ("special" kind) From Mobile to PC (NOT Recomended
2) InFared
3) Bluetooth
