I want to mess around with my x427 but i'm afraid that if i change some things around i might permanently damage my phone's firmware or software, is there a way i can transfer EVERYTHINg over to my computer before going through and hacking out annoying sounds or images? also do all the phones have a complete fallback reset? like how a motherboard has a clear CMOS jumper that will reset the bios back to factory settings in case you mess up while tweaking it?

Doing some reading and searching it looks like optiflash will do it, but the one post about where to download it has an invalid link in it, does anyone know where to download optiflash?

no, its not safe because ur platform is not listed into the flash program yet.
unless its software is exactly identical to other firmware, you wont be able to backup your phone. i dont recommend anything for the x427, e105, x426. dont worry..it seems the e715 platform just got into optiflash recently...not sure if it works yet, but its a first step forward for newer phones implemented.

lol, our buddy there got a little too paranoid. Until just recently, the program would have just given you a bad address error, but it was harmless. Use optiflash 3.6 to back up your phone. It is on the firmware and flashers 1 post and at my site http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/s/j/sjs342/Cell.html with it set to x426 (on my site that is). Make sure you set it up with the right com port, and make sure you go into settings and make sure the location you want the backup in is ok and that the only regions listed are 0x00000000 - 0x00ffffff for a full backup. As far as easygprs, that is also harmless. There is a full reset code, but it will only reset to the last flash you made of your phone, so make sure you keep a copy of the ORIGINAL backup you make just in case you edit something improperly. *2767*FULL# (full reset back to last flash) *2767*CUST# (reset anything you have added but keep some settings)
