I have win XP Pro, a Usb IrDA adapter and the drivers installed.
Ive placed my t300 next to my adapter, and when i try to send pics ive taken from 'my pictures' file on the fone( used the MCA-25) i get-- "connection failed, no device found search again? " If i try this a few times then Xp brings up the taskbar icaon stating "t300 in range". Conversely when i try and send a midi to the fone i get no recognition on the t300 and a dialogue box on the pc appears, transfer failed.
Iv downloaded mpm and sendfile 2.02 both of which haven't found success. I bought this IR adapter thinking it would solve my probs, from what i have read on other topics people have found XP says file received when u infrared the pic to the pc- i just don't get this. It's like it recognises the t300 is in range then after about 45 secs it disappears and the desktop icon sayin tranfer files disappears too.
Please can someone help me out?!

Just don't dare to move your phone out of the IR sight and within 1meter.
Be sure that the IrDa on the phone (right of your phone) aimes to your IrDa adaptor.
Then everthing should work ok

That's the problem though- i have both appliances; the IrDa adapter and the t300 pefrectly still, and the t300 within five cm's of the IrDA adapter- its really close so the signal should definately strong enough, but it just doesn't seem to work. Xp says the T300 is in range, you get the taskbar infrared icon come up, but it still won't allow me to send to the pc or send to the fone from the pc using xp's own application- iv also tried sendfile- same result- failed transfer.
I have also tried to infrared my pics/tones etc to nokia phones- i get the same 'connection failed' 'no device found, search again?' on the t300. Is this a problem everyone finds with t300's or is it just mine that has a voodoo hex placed on it.
Trying to IR using mobile agent says connection error.
From the posts i have read, might it be i haven't updated my firmware?
I don't understand the method to check the firmware- in the forum i followed the instructions to get onto the main menu , then did the right joystick, star, left joystick, left joystick, star, etc- wen i punched in the combination i didn't know wot to do next- could someone tell me whether updating the firmware is wot i need to do or there is another approach- any replies gr8ly appreciated.

I had some sort of problem that you get now a time ago.
What I did was restart my phone and PC and everything worked again.
Maybe u try it.
Or use Master Reset at your phone but be sure to back-up everything!

i've done it already. no exploits... either it's a matter of firmware (but i think not) or of settings of pc because of the usb infrared adapter: if i'm not wrong, the manager program from sony it require a COM port to be used, so while the usb is switched active by the pc when a Pc application (as float manager) asks for it, it is kinda off when it is asked by the phone. but it's just a guess.

it's definitely not a matter of firmware, because mine is R1B008 and everything works just fine. i'm also running on winxp pro and i just plug the ir adaptor (usb) and turn the ir on my phone and everything's in order. i've never experienced any problems with file transfer so i guess the problem lies within ir devices. something could be wrong with one or both of them.
