i am thinking about buying the v400 so I am also very interested if the ringtones can be downloaded by bluetooth cable or by the website method. I really don't want to get the phone thinking that i can have custom mp3 ringtons and then get an error msg like the guy a couple posts up.
any help from ppl who have these phones would be much appreciated.

I was sold a bluetooth dongle by Orange for my V500 coz I told em I wanted to download my own images and sounds for use on the fone.
It came with XTND Blue Manager, and a fone tools prog, the latter of which wont load fully coz it keeps dispalying an error code 5006 0x8000fff.
MY PROBLEMO XTND Blue manager recognises my V500, will even display "services", but wont or cant browse the folders on the phone.
I see Muppet, that you have managed it through bluetooth, which software did your dongle come with?? I suspect that its a version that specifically works with the V500. I dont want to buy another piece of s/ware if its not going to work!
I read your fanciful way of writing a webpage to download pix and tunes, and was v surprised when I got it 2 work. Hah! Who needs the bluetooth anyway?
Well, me! I dont like wap or trying to browse the internet off my mobile so thats why Id prefer to use bluetooth, so any help please??
If anyone who really cant write a webpage for their own downloads and want me to do it for them, email me your (SMALL) mp3s or jpgs, gifs etc and if and when I have the time I'll post em up on MY website.
I'm curious...
What adaptor did you purchase and what software are you using?
I've got a V525 (the Vodafone equivalent) but cannot seem to get the software to do anything other than download my contacts!
Any help/suggestions appreciated about what software is best.

My Bluetooth Dongle from Orange UK came with XTND Blue manager from windigo. Actually only accessed the files on the v500 once.
Then bought the connecting cable from argos which came with "Handset Manager" - couldnt work that one out AT ALL. Its going Back.
No, still, the only way to get it to work is to write a small webpage and embed the files you want as a link within that page. Its worked every time.

Hi Bruce,
I've now sorted this problem...finally! I downloaded an mp3 cutter from www.coolsoft.com then shaved my mp3s that I wanted and saved them on my PC. I then used the headset manager software that came with the bluetooth adapter to transfer the tunes onto my phone! Thank you to the kind soul who emailed me giving me this advice I will be eternally grateful!!!

Thanks guys... this thread gave me a great idea:
1. save the preview mp3
2. put it on my website
3. visit my site with my phone browser
4. download the ringtone
it's that simple... AND IT WORKS!!!
no need to buy a bluetooth USB adapter, although I'd still like one
well actually it didn't work first time.. got a 404. but i reduced the file size to 204kB and it worked. experiment... and post what u learn. why should we pay 2 pounds for a ringtone.... set music free!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to say ta for the info on getting preview mp3`s onto the v500, I did as you said and had a crystal clear matrix telephone "buuuuuuuuurrrrghhbb" tone, complete with that weird tin foil meets windchime background noise on my phone in minutes.
Cheers
Chipster.
Did you ever find a solution to the background noise
