can you transfer files (ie ringtones) using the cord? the software that came with it kinda sucks and seems to only be able to upload and download contacts and gives the ability to use the phone as a modem...
any input would be appreciated...

I saw this on the website the other day which might be what you are asking. I just bought a LG VX6000, so I don't know if this works or not. Please give it a try if interested. Share your experience afterwards with us. Thanks.

If you already have the data cable just get bitpim, it will let you upload pix and ringtones(midi, mp3(specific specs)), i belive you can also remove the Verizon wireless banner.
if you dont have a cable you can get them at a bunch of places online.
www.coolera.com <-- my friend got his here great service.

I got the datapilot version of pc cable adapter. It works but you have to find out which port is being used by the program. My laptop at work with XP had no problem installing and using the hardware/software however my win 98 SE at home had some issues with it and had to install/uninstall a few times.
Also, if you allow the Data Transfer suite to install modem software on your pc, expect to have to reinstall it to use it with a landline phone adapter.
It works for photos, the phone book and scheduler. Its slow but gets the job done. For the ringtones, you can't save the existing ones on your phone with their software. Probably have to import them in midi or whatever else format.
