Hi Don, I just bought a Samsung P400 from Malaysia. (So, I know that is P408 firmware). I wish to upgrade it to P400 firmware, which have more features. I got P48ZDWJ2 when I pressed *#9999#. Which firmware should I choose? Are they available in English and Chinese?

Samsung SGH-P40x
P40AJWJ1 : Wed Oct 01 11:23:56 2003
P48ZDWI1 : Fri Sep 05 22:12:46 2003
P40DXWI1 : Mon Sep 01 02:21:30 2003
P40BWWH1 : Tue Aug 26 01:01:52 2003
P48ZCWF5 : Mon Jun 16 12:13:26 2003

Also, which Flasher should I used? Optiflash 3.6???

Following is the things that I don't understand in your step by step instructions.

HOW TO FLASH/BACKUP Firmware With Optiflash!!!
Quick Tutorail
F. Select the firmware and push the flash button BACKUP FIRST
G. When Optiflash says 'Power on mobile' Push the on/off button 2 secs and the screen should go black leave the phone connected to your cable.

****For Step F and G abaove, do I done it in the phone or in the Flasher?

Expanded Tutorail
D: Go to the Generic tab and select Your Phone Model in the Specify Hardware Platform field and press OK and it should bring you back to the Optiflash - [Default] box.

****Is this should be P408?

3. FLASH (firmware upgrade)
B. In the File to Load or Verify field, select the .s3 or .sre ROM it should be in the folder where you extracted the files.

****Which *.s3 or *.sre file to be selected?

Please help!!! Thanks!!!

i'd say use the newest firmware out there. as for the english and chinese, the firmware with P40xxxxx is english and others (except chinese). the P48xxxxx firmwares have chinese language.

as stated HERE, use optiflash 3.6

regarding your questions about step f & g, it's done within the program on your pc. the only thing you'll be doing on the phone during back-ups and flashing is pushing the power button. that's it.

P408 should be selected in hardware platform, it'll probably say P40x or something of that nature.

the s3 or sre file that you are supposed to select is the firmware that you just downloaded.

Hi again. Is the above firmware listed under Samsung SGH-P40x is all the firmware for P400? Or P40xxxxx for P400 and P48xxxxx for P408? As for the Chinese, is the P48xxxxx include both english and chinese (2 languages only)? Thanks.

Trying copying ur whole optiflash folder into ur C Drive. So like C:\Optiflash
and then try to backup or flash.
