Well....I think both of the replies are correct but at the same time, the SIM and the IMEI in Cingular's billing system will be associated. Therefore if you attempt to put the SIM into your nokia 6340i from your V400...it will bill you according to what you have as your pricing plan. The GSM technology registered in Cingular's Billing won't change b/c the IMEI will still be registered as GSM. Know you will not receive the benefits of GSM but it should work...Try it a few times the first month and check your bill....
Am I missing something? I thought the original post was about switching the SIM card from GAIT to GSM, not the other way around.
Since the account is set up as a GAIT plan, and when the card is in the GSM phone it can not roam on analog only use GSM, how could there be any roaming problems?
I have two numbers on the Nationwide GAIT family plan and will use one of the SIM cards in a 6340i and the other, while in the Cingular files as a 6340i will be used in a 3595.

Yes you can swap sim cards. However the sim card is not what makes your phone work with cingular. Its the codes listed under the battery of your phone. Your sim card simply acts as memory, containing phone numbers and ect. To be able to switch phones on you account, the Cingular database would need both sets of codes from the two phones. For this to happen you would need family plan that would support the two phones. So unless you have familytalk plan it wont work.
WRONG WRONG SO WRONG U DONT NOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT i switch phones all the time with out a prob and so do so many others out there

Hello everyone,
I have a friend who recently dropped his phone in the water it is a Sony ericcson T237 (cingular). For awhile the hour glass would only come up when you turn it on but now it just says insert sim card. So I assume the one he had is gone(dead) and I am bidding on a new cingular sim card on eBay. I was wondering if this card would be compatible with this phone or if there is a difference for cingular phones. My friend gave me his phone and I would love to transfer my plan to it.
He also switched phones after he gave it to me but his sim card would still funtion right?
Can anyone give input? Greatly Appreciated. Thanks!

To your first question. You should have a problem using the SIM card off ebay... as long as it hasnt been used before and it is compatible. Some SIM cards are market specific... so you might be running a risk of getting an imcompatible one, i usually recomend going to a cingular store.. you can usually get one for less than 25 bucks...
Second question: his sim card would not work with your account.. once a SIM is used for a particlur number it cannot be reused.... you would have to get a new one

I have an easy question. I have a v400 that has been malfunctioning. Can I buy a v400 of ebay and just use my sim or do I need to contact cingular to have it activated? Can this sim be transferred to a different motorola model and still be used?

I have a question, I am a private investigator and I am wondering why would a person swap SIM Card between multiple handsets and if the person was a "bad guy" what benefit would this action have.[/b][/u][/i]

The only thing I can think of is that the different phones have different contacts in them.
I do know that AT+T can tell what phone/model you are using based on what phone has the sim card in it.

Yes we can see every serial number and what kind of phone that the sim card is used in. Also if they switch sim cards we can see that too. So not sure why anyone would think they can hide anything.
