I use another provider, but a buddy with Verizon says he can't download 3rd party java applications to his phone. Is that right? Any idea why?

I wanted him to try SkyWire Video (live video on cell phone) but he can't download the trial app.

Verizon phones run BREW apps. Your Java app isn't going to be able to run on your buddy's phone...AFAIK, these are two different technologies.

hi nokiafreak thanks for sorting that detail out about BREW applications vs java!!! so now here is the big question??? since i have a nokia 3589i and my service provider is verizon is there any way around "get it now" to install games and other apps on my phone. because i think it is a shame that verizon charges so much for games that can be found all over the net for free. and if you create your own ringtones and wallpaper verizon frowns on letting you install your own work.
but i sure would love to be able to install some games so any help would be greatly appriecated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks in advance...

I have an app that runs on Symbian/MIDP2 in the GSM world. Assuming that Verizon offers a mobile phone that supports these technologies, would Verizon allow me to offer such an app, or is Verizon BREW only?

Thanks, Monte

Will Verizon let users download Java apps on CDMA phones that support Java?

it seems that verizon is brew only and verizon won't let you install 'any' apps! they even tried to block wallpaper and ringtones but there is a way around this(just the wallpaper and ringtones) if any one finds a way to install their own apps please post it !!! i have many private games and apps that i would like to install. but it seems like verizon dosen't care about it's customers and just wants you to use "Get It Now"
